Jenzabar has built in the ability to: 1. Include a side-bar notification when surveys are available along with a count. Students can click this to reveal the MyCoursEval portlet page within JICS. 2. The portlet page shows a list of surveys and includes links to take each survey 3. The portlet page has a seamless single-sign-on link that both students and faculty can click to to launch to the CoursEval home page. 4. The JICS GO platform is also supported for direct access to surveys. CoursEval reacts to the mobile device and renders the survey in a mobile friendly format. The MyCoursEval portlet was developed by Jenzabar. The portlet utilizes the CoursEval API (application programming interface) to pull survey lists and launch CoursEval. Note: April 2015: The portlet within JICS still says ConnectEDU. This will be changed in an upcoming release. Enable the CoursEval Portlet in JICS The CoursEval Connector is part of JICS 8.x+. 1. In this example we are placing it on a brand new page under a new tab we’ve called “CoursEval”. 10. Customization Portal language and Style Updating the student/faculty page can be accomplished following these procedures: The JICS portal is geared for students, but faculty can access as well (in a faculty tab) in order to see response rates and reports. The wording of the portlet can be customized to not confuse students or www.academicmanagement.com CONFIDENTIALITY: This document may contain confidential, proprietary and privileged information, and unauthorized disclosure or use is prohibited. Here’s how: www.academicmanagement.com CONFIDENTIALITY: This document may contain confidential, proprietary and privileged information, and unauthorized disclosure or use is prohibited. COPYRIGHT 2014 Academic Management Systems, Inc. 9 Setting Up the Jenzabar Portlet 1. Edit the custom.css file located at \Portal\ClientConfig\HtmlContent. Add this at the very top or bottom: .courseEvalIntPortlet .surveyListScreen .logoutWarning { display: none; } 2. Run this SQL command on the database. Then IISRESET (or clear the globalization cache in the Site Manager). UPDATE FWK_Globalization SET Text_Custom_Value = 'whatever text you want' WHERE Text_Key = 'MSG_FORMAT_CEINT_COURSEEVALLIST_INTRO' Neither the custom.css nor the Text_Custom_Value column should be overwritten for future installs. (If the client tries to modify the actual ASCX page, then yes, that will most likely be overridden.) A few important notes: The “whatever text you want” string can contain the value {0} (that’s a zero in curly braces), which would get replaced by the “ConnectEDU CoursEval™” link. If they’d prefer to have no link at all, they can just omit the {0} altogether. Due to browser CSS caching, it may take an hour or so until the “logoutWarning” box disappears for any one browser. (You can try holding Ctrl and hitting F5 to do a “hard reset” on a given browser, but it’s not 100% guaranteed to clear the cache.) Sidebar Style If you have a savvy JICS administrator the sidebar link can be restyled to make it stand out. See this example that one of our customers was able to do: www.academicmanagement.com CONFIDENTIALITY: This document may contain confidential, proprietary and privileged information, and unauthorized disclosure or use is prohibited.
