1.1 How to Port the data from the old NPP site
1.1.1 Brief Description
The main purpose of this form is to allow you to port or transfer the content items from your old NPP
site to the new NPP site. The Data porting can be performed using the Data Porting page and can
be done by the user having the contributor privileges. Here all the content items available for porting
from old NPP site will be available under the “Data to be Ported - From Old Site” Portlet and would
be ported to the new NPP site on the “Data Ported – To New Site” portlet.
1.1.2 Pre Condition
You have logged into the NPP site with contributor role, and have permission or privilege to port the
data on your site.
1.1.3 Screen Description
The main purpose of this form is to allow you to port the old NPP site’s data to the New NPP site. You can
port or transfer your content items by following the given path – Data Porting Page -> “Data to be
Ported-From Old Site” Portlet as shown in Fig-1.1.1 below:

The Data Porting form contains the following button as indicated below.


–This button allows you to submit the
selected content items for porting to the new site.
1.1.4 Field Description
The Data Porting Form contains the following fields as indicated below:

Description - This field allows you to select one or more content items listed
under the “Data to be Ported-From Old Site” Portlet, which you wish to port
on the new NPP site.
Validation-It is a Select box field.
Mandatory/Optional- It is mandatory field.
1.1.5 Flow

You must be login into the application with Contributor role and have the privileges to port the
content items on your new NPP site:

So you login into your site with contributor privileges:

Go to your assigned site on which you have been given the contributor privileges . This is the
user of Baderajpur Intermediate Panchayat:

You go to the Data Porting Page:

System opens the Data Porting page as displayed below which shows the Data Porting form:

This page displays the list of content Items available on your old NPP site for
porting/transferring to the new NPP site.

Select one or more content items listed under the “Data to be Ported-From Old Site” Portlet
which you wish to port on the new site:

Click on Port Selected Data button

System displays the successful data porting message and the selected content item gets
transferred/ported to the new site.
10. Now the ported content item(s) are displayed under the “Data Ported – To New Site” Portlet
available on the right hand side as shown below:
11. You can view the content by clicking on the content’s title link and this opens the content
item’s details.
12. Click on the enclosed attachment file to view it as shown below:
13. It is to be noted all the data ported from old site will be displayed under the “Data Ported –To
New Site” Portlet on your Data Porting Page.
14. Now, in case you wish to transfer this data to your home page, then you can change the
content’s category value as per your requirement to display it inside the desired portlet of the
Home Page.
15. To change the content’s category you need to edit the content. To edit the content, click on
edit link.
16. This opens up the edit web content item form:
17. Go to the Categorization link:
18. Currently the Catgeorization is displayed as “Old NPP Data”, you can delete the same and
select any other Category from the State Sites list.
19. Click on Select button and select the Category available under the State Sites as shown
below:
20. Click on Select button and select the desired category name from the popup list, as per the
portlet avaialble on your home page (Here for your convienevce Category name has been
created same as the Portlet name so that the catgeory can be easily identified and selected
depending your choice of portlet name):
21. Lets say for displaying the content in About Us portlet of Home Page, you can select the
About Us category as shown below:
22. Click on Publish button, and the content start getting displayed inside the About Us Portlet as
shown below:
23. So this is how you can port the data from your old NPP site.
1.1.6 Post Condition
Selected old NPP site’s content will get ported on New NPP site and will be available for viewing
and editing on the new NPP site.
1.1.7 Messages
As you proceed, one of the following messages may be prompted
