based care in our aging communities. Presented by
Dr. Daniel R. George, M.Sc. Ph.D., Penn State
College of Medicine

Describe how those affected by cognitive decline
can still enjoy meaningful relationships and
purposeful contribution
Examine how "socialceuticals" in local
communities can provide relationship-centered care
for those persons/patients who are affected by
dementia and their caregivers
Share and model innovative approaches in
dementia care (such as the TimeSlips creative storytelling project) that participants can apply in their
communities to better serve persons with dementia
Research Update presented by Dr. Jennifer Lingler,

music therapy program versus other music

the relocation process
· Gain some resources and tools to assist with relocation
The Power of Pet Therapy, presented by
Lauren Rimkus, MA, Animal Friends Therapets
· Learn about the basic history of pet therapy and gain an
understanding of how this service has changed dramatically in recent years.
· Identify a minimum of 5 clinically researched benefits of
the human-animal bond as often demonstrated through
pet therapy.
· Learn the different parties who benefit from pet therapy
including the volunteer, the animal, the caregivers, the
individuals receiving the visit.
