Allfarthing School Bulletin
11th May 2015
Dear Parents and Carers
We have had an exciting week at Allfarthing last week with a mock election of our own. The four
party candidates - Ella Vyas for Tomorrow, Nathan Dawkins for Progress, Lottie Thomas for
Transform
ansform and Will Thompson for VisionVision gave their manifesto speeches in Assemblies last
Thursday while their party workers produced some amazing elect
election leaflets, posters and party
rosettes. School Council organised the electoral register and helped to run the polling station on
Thursday. Once the ballot papers were counted, Will Thompson (Vision) was elected as the
Allfarthing MP by a clear majority.
His party's policies included:
Improved provision for those with disabilities, longer
mortgage repayment periods and more factories to be run on solar, hydro
or wind energy.
The children really enjoyed this opportunity to
explore the democratic process of UK elections.
PTA Aviva bid for Playground Funds
As you know the School and PTA have applied to Aviva for some funding for sports pitches for the back playground.
The project has reached the voting stage and the number of votes is critical as this is how Aviva determine who they
will support. If you haven't already voted please visit the Aviva site at https://communityhttps://community

and vote for Allfarthing.
Anyone can vote if they have an email address so please encourage everyone you know to do the same, and if your
child has an e-mail
mail address let them support the project by voting too.

Seahorses year 2 work share assembly
The Seahorses loved showcasing what they have been learning with Steve Grocott in their music lessons this term thank you so much to all parents for coming. The children were so excited and proud to show you their work they had
done this year.
Parent Governor Election
We have received three nominations for the two vacant parent Governor positions, so will be holding an election next
week to democratically elect our Governors. We will display the candidates supporting statements in the playground
on Monday and you will receive 1 ballot paper per household in the book bags today. Voting will run until 12.00pm on
Monday 18th May, after which the votes will be counted by Mr Bingham and Mrs Good in the main office.
I am sure you will join me in wishing our three prospective Governors good luck.
Nursery Build Update
As you can see from photos the foundations for the new
nursey extension are set and the steels are going in. The
workforce will be inside the original house pulling down
walls and reconfiguring the rooms. They have brought in 2
temporary offices to use during this part of the work.
Nursery children have loved developing and playing on their
own building site in their outdoor learning environment this
week.
PE and Sport
On Saturday 16th May a group of Year 4, 5 and 6 children will be taking part in the Wandsworth Primary Schools
Swimming Gala held at Putney swimming pool. This is the first time we have entered a swimming event and the
children are very excited to be taking part in something new and to put into practise their strokes they have been
working on in their school swimming lessons. Good luck to those taking part.
All the children will be practising their athletic skills ready for sports day on June 25th at Wimbledon athletics ground.
Snacks and packed lunches
REMINDER – Please be aware that we are a NUT FREE school. There have been a couple of cases recently of children
bringing nuts into school and we do have children with severe allergies. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Allfarthing’s Got Talent
Show us your moves & grooves, serenade us with an instrument, sing your heart out or just make us laugh. It’s your
chance to get up on stage and shine! All current students of Allfarthing Year 2 and above can enter. We are all looking
forward to seeing what amazing acts our talented children will be performing for us this year so please get your forms
in to be part of this fantastic show.
Thank you to those parents in years 2 to 5 who were able to attend our recent Secondary Transfer Meeting. Based on
the positive feedback we have decided to host a second meeting on Monday June 8th 5-6pm. This meeting is to go
through the process for secondary transfer and to look at where Allfarthing children have gone over the past years.
We are also hosting our usual ‘Secondary Transfer Fair’ which is open to all parents Years 2 to 5. This gives you the
opportunity to talk to local state and independent schools and in addition some Year 7 children, a few of whom will
have been through Allfarthing Primary.
Finally, could we please ask parents that if they or their child encounters poor/bad behaviour from other children, to
contact their class teacher directly about any issues rather than emailing or texting parents directly. We will
endeavour to resolve the issues as swiftly as possible.
Best wishes, The Headship team
