Commander’s Message
The Lounge is making money which means we can
improve our building and do more for our veterans. As
some of you have noticed, we have started paving our
parking lot. We have nominations of officers in April
and elections in May. It would be nice to see some
more members at a meeting, it is only 30 minutes out
of your busy day. Remember the Lounge is not The
American Legion, it is a bar. The American Legion is
helping our veterans and community. The Lounge is
what helps keep paying our bills and allows us to do
the work of the American Legion. If you have any
complaints or questions, please come to a meeting.

Adjutant’s Message
It is time to start thinking of who you want for your
2015-2016 Post Officers. Nominations will be at our
April and May meetings with elections at our June
Meeting. There will be no nominations the night of
elections.
Convention is June 25, 26, 27, and 28, 20015 at the
Renaissance Sea World, Orlando, Florida. If you think
you might go, let me know. I will have to take in names
and registration fees when I go.
Joyce Kerwood, Adjutant
Auxiliary President’s Message
A visitation was made to The Pines of Sarasota for
our “adopted” veteran, Harry Grubbs, on his 93rd birthday
on February 11th, but we were saddened on Monday,
February 23rd, when we were informed that he had
passed away. May you rest in peace, Harry Grubbs. You
will be missed.
Our bake sale held on Thursday, February 12th turned
out to be a huge success. Thanks to all who donated
baked goods.
Two employees of JFCS attended our meeting in
March to discuss a long-term partnership in assisting our
Veterans with housing, food, shelter, clothing and
benefits. Our members are looking forward to working
with the OMAP program to assist our veterans.
A continued “Thank you” to all our volunteers who
assist with dinners, etc.
No Legion Post can operate without the help of their
members. You fought long and hard to defend this great
country and now you are needed to help your Legion
operate in keeping the companionship.
You happen to belong to a great Legion Post that
contributes a great deal to the community and to the
veterans yet if members don’t attend meetings, how do
you expect it to stay a great Legion?
In God and Country,
Tammy Griggs, Auxiliary President

Monthly Food Night
E-Mail Anyone
Once every month we have volunteers honoring our
Post by bringing in home-cooked food to share and
enjoy.
We are asking for our membership (Legion,
Auxiliary, SAL, and A.L.R.) to send us your email address
if you have one. You can send it to our Legion email
address at:
This is a great effort to break bread with all the
members of Post 30. All are welcome. Hope to see you
there.
THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS
Notice to Legionnaires
Can you imagine if you didn’t have a place to come
and visit with friends or didn’t have a place to dance or
have a good meal?
Our Post has many members and yet there are not
enough people to have a meeting on a date specified.
You as a member are entitled to attend, invited to attend
and should attend these meetings. Your input not only
helps your Legion but keeps your Legion running.
[email protected]
The advantage for sending us your e-mail is that we
can alert you to further activities that may occur after the
newsletter has already been sent out. Many functions
happen after the fact in relation to dinners and
entertainment.
You can further inform us of persons who are sick or
in distress as well as members that are making a
difference in our community
