2015 Summer Camps Schedule
Camp Hours
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (sack lunch and drink required)
Childcare Available - “Rosie’s Round-Up”
Once your child is registered for a camp, you have these options for before and after childcare. If you select
“YES” on the registration form for childcare, we will call you to confirm the details.
Monday - Thursday 8am-9am $10/week (per student)
Monday - Thursday 4-5:30pm $10/week (per student)
*Before and after camp $18/week (per student)
Sign-In
Please escort your child(ren) into the building and sign them in before every camp class, and sign them out
after every camp class. On Monday’s, please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your child’s scheduled camp
time to get them checked in and fill out any additional needed information.
Lunch & Snacks
Campers will have an opportunity to take one snack break every day. You may want to send snacks with your
child along with a refillable water bottle. If your child is enrolled all day, you will need to provide a sack lunch
with a drink.
Fun Day Fridays
Fridays are not just for Art anymore! We’ll be PLAYING GAMES … outdoor, indoor, board, and Wii, watching
movies, eating popcorn, playing cards, making crafts and SO MUCH MORE on Fun Day Fridays!! Each Friday
will include a variety of fun-filled, action-packed activities.
All camps are taught by experienced, working and teaching artists. All of our teachers are certified fine art
educators by the state of Oklahoma.

Your child will enjoy a fun, summer break art camp in Oklahoma City at Artsy Rose Academy.
We have many different art activities scheduled, such as watercolors, oil pastels, air dry clay &
creative recycled art. See a full list of our summer break camps available below. Please let us

Week 1 / June 1st-4th
“Tune Into the Arts” / Ages 5-10 / 9-12pm/ Kimberly Scott

Campers will learn about music and musical instruments while mixing it up with art using various mediums.
They will create oil pastel instruments, paint song birds with watercolors on sheet music, paint their favorite
animal wearing head phones, and make instruments out of recycled materials.
“Fashion Create and Take” / Ages 11-14 / 9-12pm / Amanda Lamirand

Campers will design, create, and refurbish their favorite outfits and accessories. This class is perfect for
budding fashion designers. Students will learn a variety of techniques including fashion design, basic stitching,
and other creative techniques. Students will need to bring some supplies from home (T.B.A)
“Rumble in the Jungle” / Ages 5-10 / 1-4pm / Kimberly Scott

Monkeys, snakes, toucans, and more… Campers will learn about various jungle animals while discovering how
to use many types of art mediums, such as watercolors, oil pastels, color pencils, dry clay and much more.
“Stamping and Printmaking” / Ages 11-14 / 1-4pm / Vicki Clark

Campers will engage in printmaking, a classic art form that has been around for centuries, adding their own
unique and modern twist. Come join us and learn how to make prints by creating “stamping tools “ using
foam plates, found objects, q-tips, in addition to using traditional wooden stamps.

“Superhero Showdown” / Ages 5-12 / 9-12pm / Kimberly Scott

Superman, Spiderman and Wonder Woman are just a few of our classic superheroes … policemen, firemen
and teachers are a sample of our modern day heroes. Campers will learn about “super” heroes and
community values while incorporating them into art. They will create a portrait of themselves as a superhero,
design a logo for themselves, create a city scene collage, sketch a villain with pastels (after all a superhero has
to protect citizens against evil), and so much more.
“Mixed Bag of Media” / Ages 11-14 / 9-12pm / Amanda Lamirand

Campers will experiment with a variety of media in creating 2 and 3 dimensional works of art! Subjects will
include everything from still life to landscapes, to sculptures, to collages. Come have fun with the variety of
projects that the kids will get to create!
“Princess Tea Party” / Ages 5-10 / 1-4pm / Kimberly Scott

Through stories and “play” your little princess will learn etiquette, manners, proper table setting, social skills,
and correct posture. They will design placemats, make decorations and create invitations for the end-of-camp
tea party which family will be invited to join. (Expect to see a “real” princess or two.)

Let’s get down to the basics! “Draw what you see, not what you know” … once campers can do this, the world
of drawing is at their fingertips. They will learn the basics by drawing still life, one point and two point
perspectives, figures, doodles, caricatures, and so much more, incorporating shading and other techniques.

In this camp we will take a crash course through time as we learn about art’s great masters. Get ready to
recreate the famous work of VanGogh, Dali, Pollock, O’Keefe, Monet and others!

It’s a whole new world under the ocean … Campers will explore it with art projects using a variety of mediums.
They will create a fish collage, porthole ocean scene, watercolor octopuses, ocean animal prints and many
other fun nautical projects.

Campers will learn all about theatre productions, including the art of performance, line memorization and
stage craft. The week will begin include the production of a creatively designed and performed story, ending
in a grand performance. Students will also be introduced to set and prop design, acting techniques, and how
to create a working, dramatic story.

Art can make anything fun! Campers will learn what happens when they mix baking soda, paint and dyed
vinegar; they will paint their favorite president, create mathematical tangrams, create 3-D forms, build nature
scenes, and create art based on popular children’s books. Campers will integrate art into Science, Math, Social
Studies, Geography and Literacy activities using a variety of mediums and FUN!

theatre. Students will create puppets, write stories, and get to experience theatre games. The week will end

Who doesn’t love a great children’s book? Each day we will read 2 or 3 books and create awesome art projects
based on characters, scenes or morals of each story. Campers will use various mediums such as markers, oil
pastels, color pencils, paints and so much more. They will also write and illustrate a book together.

design their own “Disney” character.

Campers will learn about their camera and the features on their camera phone. They’ll learn how to take
interesting pictures and, most importantly, what to do with their pictures once they have taken them.
Campers will learn how to edit pictures on the computer and upload them to a favorite site to share with
family and friends. They will also create a scrapbook using the pictures they take through the week. *Must
provide own camera & camera phone.
