Revised May 13, 2015 1 Athletics Ontario Outdoor Junior and Senior Championships (Including Selected Relays Championships) and Bantam, Midget and Youth Combined Events Championships Waiver: Every participant is required to sign the waiver form attached. For athletes under the age of 18, a parent or guardian’s signature must appear on the waiver. The waiver form must be submitted at the registration desk on the day of the competition. Payment: Via Trackie with on-line payment OR Entries via Trackie with advance payment by CHEQUE. Cheque payable to Athletics Ontario. No cash or credit payments accepted. Post Entries: Entries in championship events received after the entry deadline will be accepted at the discretion of the meet organizers and only if it does not cause a disruption of the conduct of the meet. These entries will be subject to a $50.00 per event entry fee ($60.00 per relay team) if accepted. To be eligible for post entry, athletes must have been registered with Athletics Ontario by the registration deadline of 11:59 pm, Monday, June 8, 2015 or have paid a late registration fee as per paragraph 2, under “Eligibility”, below. Entry Confirmations: As entries are processed, the performance lists will be made available on line on the Trackie website (www.trackie.ca) and Athletics Ontario website at: www.athleticsontario.ca. Please check on line to confirm your entries following the entry deadline. Guests from other Provinces/States: Please note that Athletics Ontario rules require that in track events there must be a minimum of 4 athletes from Ontario included in the final or fastest timed trial. Any out-of-province athletes excluded from the final will be included in a second timed final to consist of the next fastest group of runners. Eligibility: In Championship events, athletes residing in Ontario must be registered and their clubs affiliated for 2015 with Athletics Ontario by the Entry Deadline. Athletes not registered with Athletics Ontario by the Entry Deadline will be subject to a $50 late registration fee, in addition to the regular membership fee, payable to Athletics Ontario prior to picking up their bib number. Athletes registered with Athletics Ontario as “Unattached” or “Disassociated” do not require a club affiliation. Athletes residing in Ontario but representing a club from outside the province must be registered with their association and must be entered by their respective clubs. Athletes residing outside of Ontario must be registered for 2015 with their provincial or state associations. For younger athletes, born in 1998 or after, the entry guide is provided. It is strongly recommended that athletes who have not achieved the performance level indicated should not be entered in the meet. Coaches meeting: A coaches meeting will be conducted at centre field one hour prior to the first event on Friday. Revised May 13, 2015 3 Athletics Ontario Outdoor Junior and Senior Championships (Including Selected Relays Championships) and Bantam, Midget and Youth Combined Events Championships Check-in Procedure: Athletes entered in track events must check in at the designated check-in area separately for each event no sooner than 90 minutes and no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled or re-scheduled start time of the race. Athletes entered in field events must check in at their event site before the start of the first trial for any competitor in the event. Athletes who fail to check-in as required will not be allowed to compete in the event. Please allow extra time for bad weather, traffic problems, etc. Picking up bib numbers does not constitute a check-in. Lane & Heat Assignments: Lanes, Heats and Sections will be assigned according to the rules of the IAAF/AO. Following the check-in period, a list of heat and lane assignments will be posted for each event near the warm-up area, finish line and start line areas. Special Relay Rules: AO-affiliated clubs (or clubs affiliated with other AC or USATF branches) only may enter the Relay Championships. Composite or school/university teams are ineligible. Clubs must enter teams in the appropriate age category (i.e., may not move up). Example - a team made up of 4 Juniors must enter the Junior category and may not move up to the Senior category. An athlete may compete in a different age group in different relay events only. For example, an athlete may compete in the Junior men’s 4x100m and the Senior men’s sprint medley but the same athlete may not compete in the Junior men’s 4x100m and the Senior men’s 4x100m. Relay Declaration forms will be available at the registration area or competition director’s table. Completed declaration forms, with names of the runners in running order, must be turned in to the meet organizers no later than 45 minutes prior to the published or announced start time for the respective events. Only athletes whose names were included on the list of potential relay runners sent to [[email protected]] 11:59pm on Monday June 8 are eligible. Relay Uniform Policy: In Provincial Championship events the four athletes on the team must wear identical* club tops. * Small design differences and slight differences in placement of letters, etc. may be permitted at the discretion of the check-in marshals and on-track officials. Awards: Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the first three finishers from Ontario in each Championship event and to the four members of the top three clubs from Ontario. Outdoor Club Championships Scoring: The top 8 Ontario athletes in each event and category will earn points for their clubs as follows: 1st – 10 points, 2nd – 8, 3rd – 6, 4th – 5, 5th – 4, 6th – 3, 7th - 2, 8th – 1. Athletes must achieve AO’s Step Up Level 1 in order to score points. Scoring Revised May 13, 2015 4 Athletics Ontario Outdoor Junior and Senior Championships (Including Selected Relays Championships) and Bantam, Midget and Youth Combined Events Championships for the relay teams is the same except that no club may score more than one team per event, nor may it block out other clubs from scoring points. Facility: Mondo Super X 14mm surface on 8-lane track and on all field event approaches. Concrete throwing circles. No change room facilities or showers are available. Facility Rules & Regulations: Only AO-registered coaches and officials and meet volunteers will be permitted onto the competition areas. All others must go to the spectator viewing area. Meet organizers will provide passes for AO registered coaches registered by the meet entry deadline. Spiked shoes may be checked at any time and disallowed if spike length exceeds 6mm and are not of the allowable type as shown in diagram below. Starting Blocks: Official blocks will be supplied by meet management. However, any starting block complying with IAAF rules may be used. Starting blocks are required for all athletes in events of 400m and under (with the exception of Bantam and Midget entrants in the Combined Events). Coaches, please ensure your athletes are familiar with the use of starting blocks. Please try out your blocks on the racing surface in advance to check for slippage. Implements A limited number of throwing implements will be provided by the meet management. Personal implements will be allowed and once checked in, will be entered into the competition equipment pool. To ensure certification, implements should be brought in 90 minutes prior to the start time of the event. Sportsmanship: Proper conduct extends to all athletes on and off the field during the meet and to parents, friends, and coaches especially at the meet site. Protests: All protests must be made as outlined in IAAF rule 146. In all cases, protests must be filed within 30 minutes of the official announcement or release of the results. If no protest is received within the above-mentioned time limit the result as released will stand. If a protest changes a result, 30 minutes will be allowed following the announcement or release of the decision for appeals to be brought forward. The cost of $25.00 will be returned if the appeal is upheld or not considered frivolous by the Jury. Sweatsuit Rule: To help the meet stay on schedule athletes must have removed their sweatsuits, leggings, etc. and be ready to run by the time they are called to the start line. Please convey this information to the athletes. Championship Events: Junior and Senior: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m (Jr Women only), 5000m, 100m Hurdles (Women), 110m Hurdles (Men), 400m Hurdles, 3000m Steeplechase, High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Hammer, Javelin, 4x100m Relay, 4x400m Relay, Sprint Medley Relay (200-200-400-800m) Youth Girls Heptathlon: 100mH, HJ, SP, 200m/LJ, JT, 800m Youth Boys Octathlon*: 100m, LJ, SP, 400m/110mH, HJ, JT, 1000m Youth Boys Decathlon*: 100m, LJ, SP, HJ, 400m/110mH, DT, PV, JT, 1500m Midget Girls Pentathlon: 80mH, HJ, SP, LJ, 800m (one day) Midget Boys Pentathlon: 100mH, LJ, SP, HJ, 1000m (one day) Bantam Girls Tetrathlon: 80mH, HJ, SP, 200m Bantam Boys Tetrathlon: 80mH, SP, HJ, 200m *this year, both events will be offered. The official final standings will be based on scores made in the Octathlon and in the Decathlon for the 8 events of the Octathlon (1500m for 1000m). Specifications for Hurdling and Steeplechase Events and Throwing Implements: All events will be to current AO Specifications, which are available on the AO web site at: http://athleticsontario.ca/coaching-resources/ Please click “Event Technical Specifications” Seed Times: Best indoor/outdoor performances achieved during the period May 1, 2014 to June 8, 2015 will be used for seeding purposes. Only performances that appeared or will appear in the Athletics Canada rankings will be accepted. Also, please note: Wind-assisted* jumps or sprints event performances will not be used for seeding purposes. Conversions from related events (e.g., 1500m and 1200m) will not be accepted. There will be no appeals allowed for consideration of special circumstances such as injury during the eligible period, etc. * includes performances with no wind information recorded or reported. Athlete’s name, branch of affiliation, year of birth 2. Competition, date, location and event 3. Link to official results or copy of official score sheet no later than 10 days after conclusion of event. Results should be submitted for rankings no later than 10 days after conclusion of event. (Please note that NO results will be added retroactively) Please forward information to [email protected] [Some results may need to be verified as having been sanctioned or approved by the provincial association.] Seed Times in Relays: To assist meet organizers in the making of competitive sections, please provide your best estimate of seed times for each of your teams to the Competition Director. Vertical Jumps Starting Heights: Vertical jumps starting heights and increments shall be determined at the competition site by meet officials after conferring with athletes in the age group for which the championship is being conducted, in advance of the start of the event. Starting heights should be set so as to allow every jumper in the championship age group a reasonable opportunity to clear at least one height in the competition. Note: the above does not preclude minimum standards for entry being imposed on athletes who wish to compete in the championships of an older age class than their own. Spectator Admission Fees: $5.00 per day per person / $12 for a meet pass (10 and under FREE) How to get to the University of Windsor Stadium: The address of the stadium is 2600 College Ave., Windsor, ON. Travelling west on the 401, take “Exit to the Bridge”. The 401 ends and becomes Huron Church Road. The stadium is located at the corner of Huron Church Rd. and College Ave. (approx 5km from the end of the 401). Be aware that the much of this roadway is still under construction in preparation for the new bridge crossing. Parking: Pay & Display operations are in effect Friday but all University lots are FREE on Saturday & Sunday, do NOT pay the pay and display lots around the stadium.
