This Scholarship Application for Admission Kit, with the related forms necessary to support your candidacy, is to be completed thoroughly and accurately, and handed in a timely manner to ensure a prompt response from our side. • Your application must be completed and submitted within the set deadline. • You will receive a notification of your scholarship application status within 2-3 weeks after the deadline. The Admissions Checklist (last form in this Kit) is a great tool, that highlights all supporting documents required along with your application. Please note that all required financial documents need to be submitted along with Grade 10 + 11 and the most updated Grade 12 results for your application to be considered by the Committee. The Student Center houses indoor sports facilities, a barber shop, a beauty salon, a travel agency, a bank, a copy center, a bookstore, a supermarket, and food courts. Athletic facilities include a 1,300ft track, a 82ft pool, a soccer pitch, three tennis courts, and two basketball/volleyball courts. Kind regards, A central indoor stadium, the AUD Knights Arena, is designed so that it can be dis-mantled into two independent courts used for indoor football, handball, basketball or volleyball. Separately, there are two squash courts and a 1,600sqf gymnasium and an aerobics/dancing/music room. Scholarship Background and Objectives In May 1999, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the creation of scholarships for eligible AUD students. The university’s Administration designated the scholarships to carry Sheikh Mohammed’s name, citing how His Highness’ gesture reflects a deep commitment to The AUD Library includes over 130,000 books (print and electronic); over 300 journals; and 70 online databases. Housing Accommodation Information AUD’s non-smoking student housing consists of four residential buildings, and four residence halls, separate for females and males. All residence halls are located in the northwest corner of the AUD campus within 2-5 minute walk to the academic buildings, library, computer labs, cafeteria, small grocery shop and the outdoor sports facilities that include basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, as well as soccer field and a swimming pool. Each residence hall has a laundry room, a study area, a TV lounge, and a fully equipped kitchen and dining room. Campus satellite television service is provided in each lounge. High-speed Internet connections are also provided in each room of all four residence halls. Separate female and male gyms are available for use by housing residents. This complete fitness facility is provided free to students living in the residence halls. All rooms are double occupancy. However, there may be single occupancy rooms available in summer sessions at additional cost. Students will be notified of this availability by the Housing Manager. Each dorm room is furnished with two single beds, two wardrobes, two desk, two chairs and two bedside tables. Each dorm room has a private bathroom. Students are responsible for supplying their own bed linen, towels, toiletries, and eating utensils. Housing Application Procedure • Students who have settled the admission fees are eligible to apply for student housing by paying a housing deposit of AED 2,500 during the admissions process. The remaining housing fees have to be paid one month prior to the beginning of each semester. In addition, students are required to pay a refundable security deposit of AED 1,000. • Upon settling the housing deposit, students are placed on a waiting list. Students should contact the Housing Manager for room booking confirmation. New applicants are assigned rooms on a first-pay, first-assigned basis. • Students are then requested to submit the following forms to the Housing Manager: 1) Student Housing Agreement Form, 2) Dormitory Computer Network Use Agreement, and 3) Curfew Extension Form. High school applicants should have at least a 90% grade average (or equivalent). Selection Criteria • Academic performance will be determined by a high school average or CGPA of the last three years. Academic letters of recommendation and TOEFL®/SAT®/ IELTS™ scores will be used in case of ties. It is expected that recipients will have earned an academic status well above the minimum required for admission or continuance in a degree program. • Financial need as demonstrated by insufficiency of financial support to fund educational expenses. Coverage/Renewal A Scholarship entitles the recipient to a waiver of tuition (25%, 50% or 100%) for one academic year (two semesters) until graduation. The Scholarship does not cover either overloads or courses taken in the Summer terms. The Student must enroll for two successive semesters and carry a full load of academic credits (12 to 16 hours) each semester. Scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis and students are expected to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above by the end of each academic year.
