Bangarra is located in the heart of the beautiful Walsh Bay arts precinct, on the edge of Sydney Harbour. The dynamic views from the Bangarra
Room encompass Sydney Harbour Bridge, Luna Park and North Sydney, and capture the life of the Harbour.
The heritage-listed wharves are home to Sydney’s top arts companies, and Bangarra holds a prime position at the harbour end of Pier 4/5. The
Wharf’s original features date back to the early 1800’s, showcasing both the solid workmanship and the architectural style of that era.
Bangarra is Australia’s premiere Indigenous performing arts company, and the creative hub for some of Australia’s most celebrated Indigenous
artists and performers. This creative spirit is all-pervasive, and imbues the venue with a unique essence.

Located at the Sydney Harbour end of the Pier, with spectacular views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park, the Bangarra
Room captures the life of Sydney Harbour and is a prestigious location for any event.

Bangarra’s studio space is perfect for theatrical or dance
rehearsals, with mirrored walls and ballet bars installed. The
studio has a tarkett floor, which can be covered with plywood
floor covering for use as a dining room or for parties.
Bangarra’s Studio Theatre is a large multi function space. It
can be used as a fully equipped theatre, for large formal
banquets or dinner events, product displays or
dance/theatrical rehearsals. The theatre is fully equipped with
retractable seating for 188, and a viewing gallery for another
27 (215 audience capacity).

General
Bangarra’s venues are rented out on a ‘dry hire’ basis. Apart from the retractable bank of audience seating in the Theatre, the venues require all tables,
chairs and furniture to be either brought in by the hirer or event coordinator, or hired separately through Bangarra. Please talk to us about what you
require and we will do our best to assist.
Audio/Visual packages
Audio/visual packages are available on request for each of the venues.
On-site catering facilities
The Bangarra Room boasts a newly renovated kitchen with small commercial oven, glass washer, bar fridge and microwave. Due to fire safety
conditions, cooking in oil or over open flames is not permitted in the Bangarra Room kitchen. Details are provided in the specifications for the Bangarra
Room. The Theatre venue has kitchenette facilities, which provide a basic preparation space, hot and cold water and power.
Disabled Access
Disabled access is available for both the Studio Theatre and the Rehearsal Studio. There is no disabled access to The Bangarra Room. The venue has
one disabled toilet.
Bump in/Bump out times
Unless otherwise negotiated, bump in and bump out times are to occur within the contracted hours of hire. Additional time will be charged at the hourly
rate.
Staffing Requirements Requirements
Venue Manager
Bangarra will provide a venue manager for your function. The venue manager will assist you in all matters in relation to the venue’s amenities, including
technical support as agreed upon with Bangarra prior to the event. Bangarra will include the hourly rate and anticipated total fee for the services of our
venue manager in your quote. The venue manager will be onsite for the full period of hire, from the beginning of bump in until the end of bump out and
until the guests and hirers leave the premises.
The venue manager’s role includes:

to act as a safety officer in case of emergencies
The venue manager is not responsible for waiting on guests, stage managing or providing security. Please ensure you have booked enough event staff
to provide service to your guests.
Security
Security is required for any events of over 50 guests, where alcohol will be served, and should be organized by the Hirer. The number of guests attending
your event will determine the number of security guards required. For less than 100 guests one security guard is required and a minimum of two security
guards are required for 100 guests or more. Guards are to be on site 30mins prior to event start time and 30mins after event is finished.
Deposit
A deposit of 50% of the hire fee is payable to confirm your booking. Bookings will not be secured until the deposit and security bond (see below) have been
paid.
Bond
A security bond of $1000 is payable 7 days prior to the event, and will be retained by Bangarra until the final post event inspection, which will occur within 7
days of the event. Any outstanding fees payable for excess cleaning or for damage sustained during the event will be deducted from your security bond.
Providing there is no damage which has occurred as a direct result of your event, and all other fees have been finalised, the security bond will be returned by
direct deposit within 2 weeks of the date of the event.
Payment of the balance
The balance of payment, including full hire, security bond, cleaning fees and venue manager fees are due 7 days prior to the event.

Bangarra reserves the right to cancel the booking if:

Bangarra Dance Theatre reserves the right to cancel venue hire at any time due to the needs of the company (ie. Rehearsal space needed by the company).
The venue or any part of the venue is closed due to circumstances outside of Bangarra’s control.
The client becomes insolvent, bankrupt or enters into liquidation or receivership.
Bangarra has reasonable evidence to suggest that the proposed event might prejudice the reputation of the venue.
Any compulsory payment has not been made on time.
The Hirer does not comply with any of the terms and conditions set by the Bangarra.
