TREE SHEARS FOR EXCAVATORS
OVERVIEW
A Dymax Excavator Tree Shear is the perfect tool for forest utility work,
hazardous fuel removal from forest lands, plantation thinning of acacia and
eucalyptus, biomass fuels production and trimming limbs and trees for
roadside maintenance and site development or alongside railroad tracks.
In plantation thinning operations of Acacia and Eucalyptus a Dymax
Excavator Tree Shear can average between 100 to 180 trees per hour
cutting rates and produce more volume of wood than competing models.
Cutting rates are subject to tree spacing, operators, and terrain.
FEATURES

Bolt on replaceable AR400 razor sharp cutting knives yield up to 1,000
hours of performance and are easily sharpened when worn. All cutting knives are adjustable.

Heavy duty cylinder rams with guarded lines.

Two fabricated steel grapple arms secure trees to control felling and are powered by two (2) cylinder rams.
•
Heavy duty blade carrier shear arms feature oversized chrome plated pivot pins with replaceable bushings.

Bolt on guards protect hose lines and all hoses are wrapped with protective covering.

OVERVIEW
The Dymax 14” Contractor Series Tree Shear is ideal for maintaining
ditches around highways and county roads, as well as other utility
clearing operations.
Available to pin direct to stick linkage or can be tailored to fit pin
grabber type couplers. Backed by a 1 year, 1,000 hour warranty.

Models require bi-directional (two-way) flow valve arrangement and lines group on excavator main pump. Dymax provides an electro-hydraulic
diverter valve kit for operating the rotation positioning. The electro-hydraulic diverter valve kit requires installation of wire, switch, and fuse.

14” TIMBERWOLF FORESTRY TREE SHEARS FOR SKID STEER LOADERS
OVERVIEW
Available in grapple and bunching models, the Dymax 14” Forestry Timberwolf Tree
Shears for skid steers are the best choice for forest harvesting shears.
Sharp, 3/4” AR400 milled knife edges cut through trees with ease. Blade adjustment
and replacement is simple and easy.
The Dymax Timberwolf hydraulic system features larger lines, reduced
pressure loss and a larger rod diameter in the shear cylinder. Hoses are
routed internally and are protected from the abusive elements inherent
in tree shearing operations. These integrated elements of the hydraulic
system yield a 33% increase in shear speed, making the Timberwolf the
fastest shear available today.

Each model features dual grapple arms that secure the tree
prior to cutting.

Heavy duty cylinders provide superior life and feature guarded

14” RANCH AXE TREE SHEAR FOR SKID STEER LOADERS
OVERVIEW
The Dymax 14” Ranch Axe Tree Shear for skid steer loaders is the ideal
tool for general land clearing. Designed for general land clearing where
materials are no more than 14 inches in diameter, Dymax 14” Ranch Axe
Tree Shears feature solid cast shearing arms that deliver 60% stronger
performance compared to competing products.
Dymax 14” Ranch Axe Tree Shears are available with two different styles of
shear arms. These are the standard arm and extended arm design. Standard
shear arms are ideal for hardwood shearing applications, while open-end
extended shear arms are suited for softwood species like cedar trees.

OVERVIEW
The Dymax Tree Saw is the best engineered, toughest tree saw
on the market. Backed by outstanding service and support,
the Dymax Tree Saw delivers a high speed, power packed
performance that spins circles around the competition.
These tree saws for skid steers are available as fixed boom
or swing boom models. Fixed boom models are available
in standard flow or high flow. Swing boom models are only
available for high flow machines.
Dymax Tree Saws feature replaceable bolt-on carbide teeth,
which are guaranteed to stay tight.
Life of teeth will vary and is subject to a variety of elements
inherent with land clearing applications.

VORTEX BRUSHCUTTER FOR SKID STEER LOADERS
OVERVIEW
The Dymax Vortex Brushcutter is the toughest, best engineered
brushcutter for skid steer loaders.
Equipped with a heavy duty drive spindle, the Vortex
delivers knockout blows to heavy duty brush and small
trees. The Dymax Vortex Brushcutter is available with a 70
or 80 inch cutting width, depending on your machine width.
The Vortex is not your ordinary mower attachment, as it’s geared towards higher end
performance. It delivers more power, and is designed to allow customers to cut 4 to 6 inch
materials all day long.
Equipped with an open end frame design, the Vortex Brushcutter cuts the material before it encounters the
deck. This allows for faster cleanout and recycle times while driving the skid loader forward.

Dymax Inc. has been leading the forestry industry for decades.
From tree shears to brushcutters, Dymax manufactures high quality products
backed by exceptional customer service.
In the mid 1980s, Dymax worked alongside a major machine manufacturer to
convert excavators into feller bunchers. By 1990, Dymax had pioneered the use
of skid steer loaders with tree shears to rid the USA Central Plains of moisture
depleting junipers, cedars and mesquite. Realizing the time-tested value of
shearing technology, Dymax began developing excavator mounted tree shears
for use in land clearing operations and maintenance of way activities.
The early 2000s brought about the need to develop lower cost and smaller
solutions to hazard fuels problems in the National Forests. In response, Dymax
introduced new, dedicated Tree Shears and Felling Heads for the U.S. Forest Service. These same tools
found their way into use to remove beetle killed pines and for thinning undergrowth. What had started on the prairie
quickly moved to the forest.
Dymax introduced the Vortex skid steer brushcutter in 2003, delivering whirlwind performance cutting trees and
underbrush up to 6 inches in diameter and mulching finer pieces. In 2004, Dymax introduced the new Ranch Axe Tree
Shear line for skid steer loaders, featuring the only cast steel shear arm in the market, and with the only built-in cutting
knife adjuster. Today it is the standard on farms and ranches around the world.
In the late 2000s, the simplicity and productivity of proven shearing technology became evident in regions of the world
where pulp and paper operations were growing rapidly, but where the underlying ability to support sophisticated saws
and harvesters was not present. The combination of low entry cost, solid productivity and nearly 100% up-time made the
Dymax Grapple Shears and Dymax Bunching Shears ideal for plantations in Brazil and Indonesia, among other markets.
Additionally, in a 2012 study in Australia, tree shears like the Dymax Excavator Tree Shear were proven more productive,
with less maintenance, less value lost, and reduced fire risk, than hotsaw and chainsaw alternatives when harvesting
eucalyptus.
Today Dymax sells its products worldwide, working through a network of dealers and distributors around the globe. With
