April 5, 2015 Rejoice! He has risen! “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said! Come and see the place where he lay.” Matthew 28:6 Today we celebrate the resurrection of Christ Jesus and the resurrection that we have in Him! Pray that Christians around the world will share this Good News with friends who do not yet know Jesus as their Savior. CURRENT PRAYER NEEDS: (*indicates change/update) *Bud B continues to be cared for in the ICU at Zeeland Hospital. Pray for him and his family. *Marian H is now living at American House (formerly Oakcrest). Pray for Marian and Jr. as they make this transition in their lives. Geneva H is home and is making good progress. Henry A is home and is doing much better. Luann W is receiving care at Providence Health Care. Pray for healing and renewed strength. Pray for all of the families/individuals that are wrestling with depression, mental conditions, and personal needs that are unknown to others. *SYNOD will be meeting in June. Pray for all of the delegates and denominational administration as they prepare for these meetings. They have many reports and overtures to understand. Rev. Terpstra is one of the delegates for Zeeland Classis. Military Service: Steve and Kim B – Steve is stationed in Italy with the Navy. Marc and Jill B – are stationed in Tennessee. *Missionary of the month: Miss Evy S who is working in Mali, West Africa She may be contacted at this e-mail address: [email protected] and there are cards in the narthex you may use to send her words of encouragement. *Please pray for travel mercies for Evy and teammates, Larry, Ann, Tom and Deb who are all traveling this week, mostly to spend Easter with believers. Mark & Vernee K CONDOLENCES: We express our sincere Christian sympathy to Larry & Rose Redder and other family and friends of Mrs. Marcella Bosch who was welcomed to her eternal home on Monday evening. May the hope & truth of the resurrection bring peace to those who mourn the loss of loved ones. I appreciated your thoughtfulness.” Loie Glass ANNOUNCEMENTS MEMORIAL FLOWERS: The spring flowers at the front of the sanctuary have been placed in memory of loved ones who are now in the presence of their Lord and Savior, because of HIS death and resurrection! The enclosed memorial sheets list the names of loved ones who are being remembered, along with a reminder of which kind of plant you ordered. (L – lily; D – daffodil; T – tulip). PLEASE take your plant home after either worship service today! If you have not yet paid for your plant, please remember to pay today. If you pay in cash, be sure your name is on the envelope. We welcome Rev. Robert Timmer to our pulpit this evening. Due to Spring break, there will be no Intergenerational Bible Study for April. PUBLIC Worship committee meeting on Tuesday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. The COUNCIL will meet this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The next Local Evangelism meeting will be April 13 at 7:00 pm APRIL 15: TAX DAY? We prefer to call it KEENAGER’S DAY. We will meet at noon for lunch in the church basement. Jerry and Sherill Bergsma will show pictures and tell of their experiences in Haiti last December. Please sign the sheet in the narthex that you will plan to be with us. The Book Club will meet this Thursday, April 9 at 7:15 PM in the church library to discuss "Winter Garden" by Kristin Hannah. UPDATES TO BATHROOMS: The upstairs restrooms in the hall by the elevator are being updated. The privacy dividers will soon be removed, the door handles now have locks, and the bathroom will be a one person occupancy. Please remember this when you use them, and perhaps assist children under the age of 6, who may have difficulty opening the heavy door from the inside. CHURCH DIRECTORY NOTES: The new church pictorial is being planned. Photography will be done by LIFETOUCH the week of May 18-21. You will soon receive information about signing up for a session. ALSO, we plan to have an online directory, and we will need info. from each family/person to have updated contact information on that site. This will only be for church members to access. REMINDER: Dandelion Festival is a few short weeks away! There are many opportunities to help serve God’s Kingdom through this festival. Signup sheets will be available soon with opportunities for all ages to help. Prayerfully consider if you can help and pray that we will have good weather and a good response to the activities. Reminder: Lu Busscher is walking for the RIGHT TO LIFE walk-a-thon. If you would like to support her in this, please put your check in her mailbox. COFFEE SERVERS: If you could help with coffee serving on Sunday, May 31, June 14 or 28th, please contact Tammy Walters. Also, please check your calendar for the summer months, to see if you could take one Sunday to help out with the outdoor coffee & cookies fellowship time. VBS REMINDER: Planning has already begun! VBS will be June 15-18 & 20 from 9:00 to noon. (Crew leaders arrive at 8:30 a.m.). We ask you to prayerfully consider helping out this year! It is always a rich blessing to everyone who is involved! REQUESTED COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS Borculo Christian School annual Spring Banquet is scheduled for Thursday, April 16. This year's featured speaker is Mr. Dale Cooper, chaplain (emeritus) of Calvin College. The title of Mr. Cooper's presentation is "A Thousand Waves and Two Thousand Smiles: Adventures of Two Old Men on their (slightly) older John Deere's." The event will take place at the Ottawa Reformed Church Grace Center in West Olive. The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m., an RSVP is required to the BCS school office by April 13. A freewill donation will be taken for the BCS general fund. Contact the school (875-8152) if you have any questions. South Olive CRC invites you to a hymn sing on Sunday, April 19 at 7:45 p.m. Marcia Seinen, Art & Alma Bouwkamp on accordion and electric guitar, plus piano and organ. Special music by Gordon Beukema on the Musical Saw Roger Brandsen will be the song leader. Free will offering will be taken for Crossroad Bible institute. Borculo Christian School will be sponsoring its 9th annual Sporting Clay Shoot at Blendon Pines. The date for the event is April 25 @ 9:00 AM. Cost for the event is $75 for adults, $30 for students ages 10-16 and $150 for station sponsors. Early registration will receive one free raffle ticket. Early registration closes on March 31. Registration forms can be picked up in the school office or on our website. IRBC ELDER'S NIGHT OUT SEMINAR - Due to a large number of requests made by pastors and elders in the area, another Elder's Night Out Seminar has been scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2015, at 7:00 PM at Cornerstone United Reformed Church. At this event, participants will be given the fundamental concepts necessary to construct a personal model of biblical counseling which is from the reformed perspective, with Dr. Jeff Doll lecturing. A brochure can be obtained online at www.reformedbiblicalcounseling.org. Seating is limited. First come, first served.
