CLUB COMPETITION RULES
Dress Code: Greys and Whites.
1. A Competition Committee shall be composed of the Club Captain and two other full members of the Club.
2. Competitions shall be played under Bowls England (Old E.B.A.) Rules.
3. Entrance fees shall be paid not later than the date determined by the Competition Committee. The competition draw will
be made within one week of the determined date and any entries submitted without the appropriate entry fee shall be
excluded from the competition draw.
4. All games shall be played by the date/s (deadline) so determined by the Competition Committee. Should circumstances
arise preventing a game being played by the determined date/s, the Competition Committee shall consider allowing an
extension, but only in exceptional circumstances.
5. It will be the responsibility of the first named player/team (challenger) in each match to arrange the fixture, and in singles
games securing the services of a marker. The challenger shall offer their opponent three dates on which to play within
the deadline. Anyone who is unable to complete a game by the deadline, shall be disqualified from the competition
unless a reason for not doing so is given before the deadline to the Competition Committee. In this instance, should the
reason be accepted, a mutual date shall be set by the Competition Committee to complete the game.
6. The draw for the rink number shall be drawn on the day of play.
7. In the event of a tied game, an extra end shall be played and a toss for the jack made.
8. No practice for competing players will be allowed on the day of the competition.
9. Trial ends may be played before the match if agreed by both players/skips.
10. The choice of who plays first will be decided on the toss of a coin, the winner having the choice of playing first or
second.
11. It is the responsibilty of the winning player/team to enter the results on the competition sheet after the completion of the
match. Scorecards are required for ALL competition matches and will be signed by both players/skips (and markers for
singles games) and placed in the card holder in the Clubhouse.


Singles Competitions:
These are four wood games and shall consist of 21 points.
Subject to rules 14 and 15.


Pairs Competitions:
These are four wood games and shall consist of 21 ends.
Subject to rules 14 and 15.
Triples Competitions:
 These Open Drawn 3 wood games shall consist of the best of 3 sets of 6 ends.
 1 point for set win. ½ point for set draw.
 Toss for jack for first set. Opposite team to have jack for second set. Toss for jack for third set. Toss for jack to play one
extra end if sets total equal after 3 sets.
 Subject to rules 14 and 15.
12. A marker must be present for all singles games. Any games played without a marker present will be declared void and
must be replayed.
13. Markers should not offer any information during the match unless asked for by a player, in which case they should only
answer the questions asked.
14. In the event of a game being abandoned by mutual agreement for whatever reason, the game must be re-arranged and
played in full.
15. If a player/team fails to arrive within 15 minutes after the agreed start time, then the game shall be awarded to the
opposition.
16. The Competition Committee will appoint an Official Umpire for the Finals Day who will answer any queries arising during
any game.
17. The Competition Committee shall have the power to determine all questions, disputes and appeals arising, and any
decisions made shall be final.
18. All Competitors shall agree to abide by the Competition Rules and to accept any decision of the Competition Committee
as final.
