Thank you to our donors: • Bambu Salon • Petite Chou • The Bike Line What’s ahead - Economic Development • Recruit desired business to the Village • Host roundtables with businesses and landlords on market trends • Available property list for interested entrepreneurs • Quarterly What’s New and Growing Press Release for positive media coverage • Distribute bi-monthly commercial space spotlight • Host semi-annual business summit • Business-centric events (Sidewalk Sale, Small Biz Sat) What’s ahead - Beautification • Monthly volunteer cleanups and landscaping days with Broad Ripple Kiwanis • Bill Brink Memorial Garden maintenance and educational signage installation • KIB beautification day in August: 3 murals + cleanup + landscaping • 360 program launch with KIB adopt-a-block • BRVA is Graffiti Free Indy paint distribution location What’s ahead – Planning + Design • Better Blocks Event on Broad Ripple Avenue • Advance projects • • • • Canal Esplanade White River Boardwalk Lighting improvements (Pilot on Cornell Ave.) Parking improvements (way-finding signage, consistent operations among lots, etc.) • Advocate for investments in infrastructure (roads, drainage, sidewalks, curbs) • Liaison with Plan2020 and ReZone Indy What’s ahead – Special Events • Document steps to plan events, put in procedural binder for long-term sustainability • Revised and improved sponsorship and advertising packages for all events • 2016 State Bicentennial event planning, recreate amusement park and bring back the trolley What’s ahead – Public Safety • • • • • • Work with IMPD on public safety strategy Code of conduct for businesses and visitors Refined monitoring and reporting processes Kickoff to a Safe Summer Event National Night Out Community Dog Walk in Aug Public Safety Fund dispersals - $13,000 raised ‘14 • IMPD fat tire bike donation • IMPD bike lights donation What’s ahead-Cultural District Tourism • Brand identity workshop and guide • Continue to develop www.discoverbroadripplevillage.com • Content generation (e-News, social media, PR) • Quarterly DBRV series spotlighting businesses along a single corridor (ex. Cornell Ave.) • Way-finding signage (pedestals/banners) • I Heart BR merchandise • Cooperative marketing campaigns with businesses What’s ahead – Engagement • • • • • • Welcome packages to new residents and businesses Block parties in the neighborhood Monthly breakfast gathering Quarterly social hour BRYPN monthly cocktail hours Quarterly activity (kayaking, biking, etc.) PRIZE! Fresh Thyme will anchor the project Projected opening Spring 2016 TIF Update: - Bond issuance starts the 25 year clock - Reminder that only COMMERCIAL development goes into the TIF, other increases help the base - Possible multi-project bond request in the future, helps minimize administrative costs and leverage smaller projects together - Bonds are issued based upon the actual performance of the district, takes longer in newer districts to build history. Parking Program Update • Pilot parking program going into effect • Now through May, signs will be posted reducing parking on residential streets • Postcard to all affected residents in 2 weeks, link to provide feedback • Press release 1 week after that “Changes are coming to BRV” focused to visitors • Already live is a website for public parking assets www.disccoverbroadripplevillage.com • BRVA and DPW will be measuring impact throughout summer, reconvening in October to review • Adjust pilot as necessary, revisit RPPP Parking Program Update Kickoff to a Safe Summer • Outreach/Engagement: connect neighbors, build a sense of community, and prevent crime. IMPD CrimeWatch Program and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design). • Bike Patrol Partnership: The BRVA has committed to supporting the growth of IMPD’s bike patrol program raising funds to purchase equipment that helps them stay on the road and keep Broad Ripple safe. • Kickoff to a Safe Summer: What we are doing tonight. Information is shared about public safety and crime prevention. The event is an opportunity for community members to be informed and have their questions answered by public safety officials. • National Night Out: The BRVA participates in National Night Out, a nation-wide event to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie. This year’s event is August 4th Kickoff to a Safe Summer • Tips for Crime Prevention – Report ALL suspicious activity by calling 911. – Light up the Neighborhood. • Call IPL to report lights that are out and have an additional light installed at [email protected] or 261-8111. – Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. – Walk safely. • Commander Bailey, IMPD North District • Captain Leary, IMPD North District PRIZE!
