BURDEKIN JUNIOR EISTEDDFOD POLICY, BURDEKIN THEATRE REGULATIONS, THE POLICY ACT AND COPYRIGHT LAWS PROHIBIT THE USE OF: D VIDEO/CAM RECOREDERS D CAMERAS D RECORDING DEVICES (INCLUDING SMART PHONES AND TABLETS) D MOBILE PHONES – are to be switched off before entering the venue D FLASHLIGHTS D ELECTRONIC GAMES (OF ANY SORT) Such devices may be confiscated for the duration of the eisteddfod GENERAL RULES and CONDIDTIONS Failure to comply with the following rules and conditions will involve disqualification and withholding of prizes. The decision of the committee of the Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod in all questions or disputes arising out of, or not provided for, by the rules and conditions will be final. All entries are received according to this condition and in the spirit of a friendly competition upon which the eisteddfod is based; no dispute shall become the subject of any appeal at law. This competition is held under the auspices of the Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod Inc. (herein referred to as eisteddfod or competition) and is open to Amateurs only. An amateur shall be defined as a person whose principal source of income is not derived from the exercise of his or her talents in the particular class or classes which he or she has entered. All competitors compete at their own risk. It is most important that Competitors, Teachers, Parents & Guardians read all rules & conditions carefully. ENTRIES: Art, Literature and Photography entries are to be submitted via post or delivered to the Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod office: P O Box 807, Ayr, Qld 4807 124b Young St, Ayr, Qld 4807 All Art, Literature and Photography pieces are to be submitted for judging by Saturday, 11th April, 2015. Entry forms: Please scroll down to the last page to print off your entry form. Entries will not be accepted if they do not contain the following: A separate entry form for each child entering in art, literature or photography sections. A separate entry form is available at www.burdekineisteddfod.org.au for bulk school entries. Fees as setout relevant to the entries submitted. Cheque’s and Money Orders are to be made payable to Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod Inc. Direct Deposit Details: Bank: QCCU, BSB: 704-640, Account Number: 900366, Name: Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod, Reference: Childs Name Full Name and Address, and Year Level at School must be included on Entry Form. All care but no responsibility will be taken with exhibits. ADJUDICATORS: The Adjudicators have the power to withhold or divide prizes according to merit. In the event of any breach of the rules and conditions, it shall be at the discretion of the management committee as to whether any disqualification or withholding of prizes is enforced, unless a formal complaint is received. Competitors MUST NOT have had any feedback whatsoever from the Adjudicator from the time of announcement of the Adjudicators. Any approach before or during competition, to an Adjudicator by an Entrant, Parent, Teacher or Friend of an Entrant during the Eisteddfod is prohibited. Disqualification of competitor may be enforced. This rule does not apply to the Eisteddfod committee. AGE LIMITS: The eisteddfod is open to all competitors age 18 years and under. Competitors who have left school are still eligible as long as they are under the stated age limit. Competitors in all sections must compete according to the grade level they are in at school on the commencement date of the eisteddfod. Proof of school year level may be required in the case of a dispute. Prizes will be withheld until such proof is forthcoming. No competitors may perform in any section under a name other than his or her name stated on the entry form. DIVISION OF SECTIONS: Age groupings will be determined by the eisteddfod committee after close of entries. The eisteddfod committee will make its best efforts to adhere to the class level groupings set out in this Preliminary Programme, however, the committee reserves the right to split or combine sections if they deem it necessary. ENGRAVING: The Committee will not be responsible for the engraving of trophies won. PERPETUAL TROPHIES: Due to difficulties faced by the committee in regards to having all trophies returned to the office in good condition prior to the commencement of the eisteddfod, perpetual trophies will be presented on the day and then held by the eisteddfod. A smaller trophy will also be presented as a take home trophy. The cost of the engraving for the perpetual trophy will be covered by the eisteddfod committee. VENUE RULES: Prams, school bags and large musical instruments are not allowed into the auditorium. Mobile phones and hand held games must be switched off – light from a screen is a distraction. Recording Devices of any kind are strictly prohibited as per privacy and copyright laws. (Audio, Video, Photographic) VENUE ETIQUETTE: A high standard of decorum is expected from all participants and spectators. Unpleasant or offensive behavior may result in those responsible being asked to leave and offending entrants may be disqualified. These rules also apply to misuse of the Venue and Eisteddfod’s facilities. The committee reserves the right to take any/all action to facilitate the satisfactory conduct of the Eisteddfod. The Eisteddfod is conducted under the relevant Queensland Government Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and expects all competitors, volunteers, patrons, teachers and visitors to respect these guidelines and will not be held liable for any such person who does not. REPORTS: A written adjudication on all exhibits, including non-place-getters, will be available at the completion of the Section. No adjudication slips will be held by the Committee after the Close of the Eisteddfod. AWARDS and BURSARIES: Awards/Bursaries will be presented to the winning competitors on the completion of that discipline. Please be advised not to leave the auditorium before winners have been announced. PROTESTS: The Adjudicator’s decision is to be final except in cases of dispute regarding AGE or INCORRECT ENTRY, when the decision of the Protest Committee shall be final. Where the age of a competitor is the subject of protest, a birth certificate may be required. All protests or disputed matters will only be permitted if made in writing and handed to the executive member on duty within half an hour of the cause arising, accompanied by a fee of $30.00. In all cases the fee will be forfeited if the protest or dispute is considered frivolous. Art & Photography GENERAL: All Art exhibits must be in the hands of the Entries Secretary by Saturday, 11th April 2015, 5:00pm at 142b Young Street, Ayr. SIZES: Drawing and Collage must be on stiff paper, no larger than A3 for Primary and 1m x 1m for Secondary. (A4 is acceptable.) Paintings are to be on firm paper, board or canvas, no larger than A3 for Primary and 1m x 1m for Secondary. (A4 is acceptable.) Entrants are to use the template provided (this can also be downloaded from the Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod Inc. website) to record the Competitor’s Number, Section, Title, Class at School and School Code. (The name of the school is not to appear on this form.) This template is then glued to the back of the completed piece of work. NO FRAMED WORK PERMITTED. Please mark art work clearly on the template with the title. All submissions must be the original work created by the competitor named on the entry form. All submissions must not have been entered in any previous eisteddfod. Exhibits may be collected from the Official Table between the dates of: 16th & 26th May, 2015. The Eisteddfod accepts no responsibility for entries not collected by this time but will endeavor to return uncollected entries to schools in the weeks after the Eisteddfod concludes. All submissions must be the original work created by the competitor named on the entry form. The work may have submitted as part of a school assignment, however any work submitted to our adjudicator, Miss Rigano at BCHS, cannot be submitted as part of the Eisteddfod. The Declaration form found at the back of this Preliminary Programme, must be attached to each piece of literature. Entrants are to use the template provided (this can also be downloaded from the Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod Inc website) to record the Competitor’s Number, Section, Title, Class at School and School Code. (The name of the school is not to appear on this form.) This template is then glued to the back of the completed piece of work. All literary works must be legible and submitted on A4 paper, written or printed on one side only. All written works must be clearly titled when submitted – not necessarily on the entry form. All submissions must not have been entered in any previous eisteddfod. Please note word limits. Submissions exceeding these limits will receive adjudication but may not receive a mark. A word count must be written at the end of each piece of work. Only one entry per competitor per section is allowed. All entries, including special needs, are to be from an individual competitor.
