Middle School Core Teacher (Years 6-8) Status: Permanent Full Time Desirable subject areas: Mathematics and Science are desirable but other subject areas will be considered Commencement Date: 15 July 2015 Position Location: Burgmann Anglican School, Forde Campus, Corner Francis Forde Boulevard and Hurrell Streets, Forde. Burgmann Anglican School is a Preschool to Year 12 school established in 1999 with 24 students. In 2015 the student population exceeds 1500 located across our Forde and Valley campuses. The school prides itself on its innovative and creative approach to curriculum and education and its strong sense of community and pastoral care of the students and their families and the staff of the school. The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school. Line Management Responsible to the Head of Middle School and ultimately the Principal through: Deputy Head of Middle School (Curriculum) and Deputy Head of School (Pastoral) Year Level Team Leader The appointee will be required to work collaboratively with a Middle School Year Level Team Duties Responsible for the pastoral care of a Core Class of Year 6, 7 or 8 students Teach Integrated Studies focusing on developing research and higher-order thinking skills Teach across our “Skills” program - English, Mathematics, Science and Integrated Studies (SOSE) – preferably with expertise in Mathematics and Science Liaise with students and parents Participate in the cocurricular program Attend staff meetings and professional development Support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School Other duties as required Selection Criteria An appropriate teaching qualification with the ability to teach across key learning areas (English, Mathematics, Science and Integrated Studies) and preferably with expertise in Mathematics and Science. Experience in teaching the Australian Curriculum and the ability to contribute effectively to curriculum development A passion for effective learning and teaching An interest in working with adolescents The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues The ability to plan a differentiated learning and teaching program aimed at meeting students’ learning styles and varied academic needs A commitment to the ideals and ethos of Middle Schooling Demonstrated skill and experience in outcomes-based planning and assessment Demonstrated skill and experience in developing learning experiences that promote higherorder thinking The ability to effectively integrate ICT into classroom learning experiences The ability to contribute to the wider life of the School through the cocurricular program including sport or other activities Salary, Terms and Conditions The successful applicant will be employed under the Independent Schools ACT Standards Model (Teachers) Multi Enterprise Agreement 2015-2017. Salary will be determined according to qualifications and years of experience.
