Third Grade Reading and Language Arts/Lesson Plans March 16th - 20th, 2015 REMINDERS March 16-20 Benchmark Tests will be given March 18th – Report Cards go home March 20th – Spring Pictures March 30th – April 3rd – Spring Break – No School!!! SPELLING WORDS Reading Week At A Glance Monday: The teacher will introduce the essential question: “How can we reuse what we already have?” Students will participate in an interactive read aloud “The School Garden”. The teacher will introduce the weekly vocabulary words and words to know. Students will participate in a Close Read using The New Hoop on pages 348-351. The teacher will model summarizing the text and identifying the point of view. Tuesday: The teacher will review the words to know, weekly vocabulary words and vocabulary skill: homographs. Students will reread The New Hoop. Students will practice summarizing using a short expository text. The teacher will also discuss strategies for understanding the point of view. The teacher will introduce the weekly language skill: adjectives. Wednesday: We will read Bravo, Tavo! and practice summarizing the text. Students will practice identifying the point of view. We will review the words to know, weekly vocabulary words and the vocabulary skill: homographs. The students will work with the teacher to write sentences using adjectives. Thursday: The teacher and students will participate in a close read of Bravo, Tavo! Students will complete a scavenger hunt to practice going back to find answers in the text. The teacher and students will identify adjectives in the text. Students will complete an adjective activity. Friday - ASSESSMENT: 1. Students will complete a weekly spelling test. 2. Students will complete an assessment on adjectives. 3. The students will complete the weekly reading assessment and Vocabulary / Words to know assessment.
