The Spring Show Special Events Saturday May 9 Sunday May 10 Sunday May 17 1-6PM, Meet the Artists Opening Reception with the old time Appalachian music of Run of the Mill String Band. 3PM, UnPlugged in Red Hook concert, with the blues and honky-tonk tunes of pianist, Richard Jean 3PM, UnPlugged in Red Hook concert with chamber-pop singersongwriter Natti Vogel 2-4PM, brooklynONE a review of classic Broadway songs Sunday May 24 4-6PM, UnPlugged in Red Hook concert with the folkrock-soul sound of Misery Loves Company Saturday May 30 Saturday June 6 The Word Cabaret The Word Cabaret is a new occasional Saturday afternoon reading series that aims to celebrate and savor the wondrous variety of Brooklynbased wordsmiths--storytellers, playwrights, essayists, novelists, comics, spoken word artists, and poets. Hosted by Red Hook's Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition ( BWAC ), and curated by John Francis Istel, The Word Cabaret features programs that start at 4 pm and are free and open to the public. Penzo, Jane Rose Porter 4PM, The poets take the stage - Chris Campanioni, Avram Kline, Hilary Sideris, Tantra-zawadi, Robert Whitehead In keeping with the Renew/Recycle theme, screenings of the academyaward nominated documentary, Waste Land, about art created from the refuse of the world’s largest dump, located in Rio de Janeiro. 2PM and 3:30PM Sunday June 7 And to celebrate the occasion, and back by popular demand, the female drummers of Batala NYC Samba Band. (this event is sponsored by Sims Municipal Recycling Facility) 1:30PM Saturday, June 13 2PM, Janet Rothholz, a cochair of the Art in Clay show and our resident docent will lead a tour through the two floors of our exhibit space discussing the different styles, techniques, disciplines.
