REFUGE CHAMBERS
An explosion underground or the discovery of a toxic gas leak are scenarios that are foremost in the
minds of all those involved in the mining industry. The provision of a safe haven that provides a supply
of breathable air for miners in the event of an incident is an essential feature in today’s mines.
We are continuing to manufacture underground Emergency Refuge Chambers for one of the
leading providers of safety products to the mining industry.
These static chambers come in a variety of sizes, and can be built to accommodate anywhere from
4 people up to 20 people, with 4 and 6-person mobile units also available. To date we have built over
100 chambers, and with this successful high volume manufacture we are contributing to mine safety
all across Australia.

To complement our on-shore manufacturing business we are very experienced in resourcing
from our well proven manufacturing facilities in China. Overseen there by our own team, the
workmanship off-shore comes with all quality assurance documentation and Manufacturer’s Data
Records to highest world recognised standards including Bureau Veritas, DNV and ASME codes
of practice. Calbah is keen to demonstrate this and can provide comparative quotes for items
built off-shore in China or in our on-shore plant.
