Emphasis will be placed on global issues as opposed to detailed analysis of criteria changes for specific diagnoses. Topics include the adoption of a nonaxial diagnostic format, DSM-5 reorganization, inclusion of new disorders, inclusion and use of crosscutting assessments, examination of lingering controversies and other pertinent material. DBT Informed Art Therapy Natashia Collins, ATR, LAC Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed in the late 1980’s by psychologist Marsha Linehan. In DBT Informed Art Therapy, Linehan’s treatment concepts and four treatment modules are applied to art therapy directives. The educational and relatively prescriptive DBT concepts provide both art therapist and client with structure and support. The art therapy process lends itself to DBT concepts by providing clients with a physical space to acknowledge and work through dialectical quandaries. Get familiar with the revised code and answers to common ethical challenges. Integrating Art Into Work With Aging Populations Carly Hess, LAC & Allison Miskulin, LPC, ATR-BC, LCADC, ATCS, ACS The numbers of aged being served in every site and setting is on the rise. This workshop will address how art can meet the special needs associated with aging and the modifications that can increase the effectiveness of art therapy interventions with the growing number of seniors in every site and setting. Effective Strategies For School Counselors Working With LGBTQ Students Dr. Emma Kendrick A variety of challenging factors continue to complicate the learning environments for many lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) students. Professional school counselors are uniquely positioned to facilitate systemic initiatives to combat such challenges and create a more supportive school culture for all students to thrive. This workshop will provide attendees with information regarding the LGBTQ population, associated risk factors, and implications for school counselors. The Art of Supervision Series, Workshop 2 Methosd and Techniques in Mental Health/Art Therapy Supervision Annette Vaccaro, LCSW, NCPsyA, ATR-BC, ACS, ATCS This workshop provides a range of verbal and artbased techniques for use in individual supervision. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with these methods during the workshop. Participants are required to hold a credential as a registered art therapist.
