HOLIDAY HOMEWORK – CLASS V - 2015
Cambridge Primary School
New Friends Colony
The much awaited summer holidays have arrived!
And yes! We have decided to give very little homework
so that you have more time to spend on things which you really like.......hobbies, reading, Swimming,
playing instruments, board games, cycling, drawing, gardening and so many more of them.....
So RELAX & ENJOY!!!
Remember to revise all the work done in class in all the subjects during the holidays.
English

Two
book reviews from the given list of
books/ series (recommended reading list
attached)

Each of the two book reviews should be written as an essay of 200-250 words.
Format to be followed for writing the book reviews

The introductory paragraph could have the name of the book along with that of the author,
the illustrator and the publisher. The setting of the story could be included in this
paragraph eg. ‘Matilda’- This story is about a girl with an unusual power who lived in England
(and not say that the story is set in England).

In the next one or two paragraphs you can write the story in brief emphasising the
interesting/ funny/ scary/ exciting incidents and relevant details from the book.

In the last paragraph you can write what you liked and disliked about the story, or the
characters in it, giving reasons. You could compare the present story with a similar story
you may have read earlier, and can comment on the way the story ended and how you felt in
the end.
