March / April 2015 - Faith Baptist Church
March / April 2015 PO Box 730 Kosciusko, MS 39090 Phone (662) 289-9629 [email protected] www.lighthousechildren.com COSTA RICA NEWS January was a bit more relaxing after the hectic pace of dramas performed each week in December. The older kids went to Youth Camp and the younger ones got to do some special activities. February is always a busy month at the Lighthouse. The children started a new school year in mid-February. Granny McWatters (Sallys mom) celebrated her 95th birthday with a party (decorations and cake provided by the kids) here at the Home - a milestone for a gracious Christian lady. Our annual Bible Conference took place the last week in February. We had more than 35 preachers from Costa Rica and Panama, along with their wives, full time workers and lay people. Several pastors came from the States to teach and preach. We held separate classes one hour each morning for men, ladies and teens, along with three preaching and the altars were filled at each service. Thank you, Lord, for your blessings! In the midst of the conference, we welcomed two new members to the Lighthouse Family. José is 8 years old and his sister Graciela is 11. They were extremely neglected and abused by their parents. For the last year they have been in a government home. They have received almost no formal education and cannot read or write. Please pray for them as they adjust to their new home and school. If you would like to sponsor one of the children for $35 each month, please contact us by email: [email protected] or phone: (330) 400-2112. THANK YOU to all who help make this Home a refuge for abandoned children through your giving and financial support. Terry & Sally Sanders MEXICO NEWS sessions. The Lighthouse kids (pictured below), as well as other individuals and groups, blessed us with special singing. At noon each day, we fed about 125-150 people. The Thursday night banquet and service was the highlight of the 3-day conference. This is a time of refreshment, encouragement and fellowship that many of the pastors receive at no other time of the year. It is also a time of service and spiritual encouragement for our children and staff. The messages challenged our hearts The girls here in Mexico continue to grow spiritually in new ways each week. The blessing that my wife and I see is that they are excited about the things of God and the church. They are always looking for ways to serve in the church. Almost each week they ask to sing a special at church. Below is a picture of a few of them preparing to sing in a new church we just started in the little village of Tacoaleche, Mexico. It is a new work but people from the village have started to attend and are growing in Gods Word. Thank you so much for your prayers for these girls and the church-planting ministry we have here in Mexico. Jonathan & Laura Bryan INDIA NEWS PANAMA: SAN FELIX NEWS The children are all doing fine. Most of them are getting ready for their final exams. The following children are the ones writing the most important exams. Premalatha, Pavani, and Bhumesh (right photo) are writing their 10th class (senior year high school) exam. March has been a busy, but very good month at the Lighthouse in Panama. After six months in Costa Rica due to health problems, and three operations, Doña Myrtha is back home in Panama. She is doing well, but must take things easy. The heat here is difficult for her to adjust to after several months in a cooler climate. Myrtha wants to thank all those who prayed for her during those difficult days of illness and surgeries. She gave a testimony in the ladies class at the Lighthouse Bible Conference in Costa Rica (with Patricia translating into English) praising God for her miraculous recovery and His comfort during her darkest hours. March 2 was the first day of the new school year. Four new girls had just arrived at the Childrens Home, with another one coming soon. The new arrival will make a total of 10 girls in the Home. The older girls in high school have little opportunity for schooling while on the reservation and what they do have is very irregular. So the girls who come to us are far behind where they should be for their age. Poverty and neglect are all most of them have known. Bro. and Mrs. Neff, Bro. and Mrs. Frank Williams and Danny and Patricia Mora came to visit the Home during the first week of school and took the girls on a shopping trip for needed clothing and school supplies, as well as some fun items like candy and nail polish. Thank you to all who help make this Home possible and help make a difference in the lives of these deserving Ngobe Bugle Indian girls. Lavanya (left) is writing her second year Polytechnic diploma exam. Venkatamma and Ephraim (below) are writing their third year B. Tech (Bachelors of Technology) exams. The rest of the children are all preparing for their exams too. Most of the exams will be finished by the end of April. Kindly pray for all of the children as they take their end of the year examinations. Bro.
