BRESCIA-FRANCIACORTA 10th-13th SEPTEMBER 2015
We are pleased to invite you to our wonderful area and discover Brescia, Lake of
Garda and Franciacorta region.
Brescia is a city of art recently included in the list of World Heritage Site by Unesco
with its monumental complex of Santa Giulia-San Salvatore and the surrounding
archaeological area.
Alongside a dynamic and hospitable city, you will find the beautiful Lake of Garda and
Iseo Lake.
Lake of Garda is the largest lake in Europe and has so much to offer: art,
entertainment, sports, nature and landscapes. The lake offers to every tourist a
unique atmosphere.
Between Brescia and the picturesque Iseo Lake lies the charming heart of
Franciacorta, a land filled with colors and scents that produces world renowned wines.
This region appears to the gaze of tourists as a landscape of gentle hills, where one
can enjoy wandering through the vineyards, hiking, biking or riding on horseback
down the trails. A place with uncommon charm, dotted with castles, churches and
villas, it offers pleasant historic-artistic itineraries.
For golf lovers, the Franciacorta Golf Club is easily to reach. It was opened in 1986
and is characterized by smoothly winding golf holes through small forests, along the
lake and with spectacular views over the valley and the surrounding vineyards of
Franciacorta.

THE PROGRAM
Thursday, 10th September 2015
All day
– welcome to all participants in the heart of Franciacorta at Hotel Touring
in Coccaglio (BS), headquarter for our Rotary Club meetings every Monday evening.
Here, you’ll find the personnel at your disposal for room assignment starting from
2:00 pm, badges release and fully detailed program of the event.
We will arrange a transfer service with shuttles from the airports Orio Bergamo,
Milano Linate and Verona airport ( other airports in Northen Italy upon specific
request) for those who, by the time of arrival, have explicitly requested that service.
20:00 h - Welcome speech by the President of the Rotary Club Brescia Franciacorta Oglio and dinner buffet.

Friday 11th September 2015
09.00 h – After breakfast, departure from the hotel by bus for a nice trip on Lake of
Garda. Arrival in Sirmione and embarking on a private ferry with experienced English
speaking guide. While leisurely sailing, you will discover two of the twenty most
visited sites in Italy: the Rocca Scaligera (a castle built by the Scaligeri family from
Verona) and the Catullo’s Grottoes. The former was built in 1277 in order to keep
the medieval village of Sirmione under control while the latter are the remains of an
ancient Roman villa (1st century A.D.) located at the end of the Sirmione peninsula: a
stunning lookout over the lake unparalleled in Northern Italy.
The tour continues along the coast of the lake up to Salò.
Strolling through the city centre you will admire the elegant houses and reach the
restaurant for lunch.

In the afternoon, crossing by ferry to Lazise a medieval village, still surrounded by
the original walls; here you will visit the marina and the customs house ( 14th
century) symbol of the long-lasting Venetian rule.
Trip back to Sirmione by ferry and return to hotel by bus.
20:00 h - Transfer by bus to “Riccafana” winery in Franciacorta to enjoy a typical
Brescia style dinner.
Transfer back to hotel in the night.

Saturday 12th September 2015
09.00 h – After breakfast, transfer by bus to Brescia for a delightful guided tour of
the city center. You will stroll with the guide discovering the most characteristic places
of the city. The four historical squares are a real must. The tour starts from Piazza
del Foro with the Roman age remains; then you will visit Piazza del Duomo with its
noteworthy medieval buildings and the two cathedrals. The tour walks you through
Piazza della Loggia, a gorgeous Renaissance square and ends in Piazza della
Vittoria, a big urban open space realized by the fascist regime in 1932.
Lunch in Franciacorta at Dosso Badino farm house placed in Monticelli Brusati village.

In the afternoon, wine tasting and guided tour with a wine expert through the winery
company "Ca 'Del Bosco" located in the heart of Franciacorta and precisely in
Erbusco. The company has about 150 hectares of vineyards whose grapes are
intended for production of sparkling wine DOCG FRANCIACORTA exclusively obtained
with the classic method of fermentation in the bottle. It’s considered a model
company for its dynamism and much appreciated by the market for its excellent
production in compliance with the high technology methods.
For those who are interested, we offer you the following options:
Option1 : Free time for shopping at Franciacorta Outlet or green fee entrance at
Franciacorta Golf Club.
Option 2: Guided visit at “Santa Giulia-San salvatore” Museum as well as visit at “Mille
Miglia” Museum (for this option, lunch will be arranged in Brescia city center).
Trip back to hotel around 18.30 h.
