Board/Membership Meeting News:
Jack and Alice Wirt Library Display in Bay City.
For information call Dick Bishop, 989 529 3324.
Fellow Carvers,
I hope everyone is enjoying summer. I got off to a busy start
and enjoying the warm weather.
We had a table set up at Cabelas in May and Haithco
Saginaw County park in June. We had displays with what we
do along with handouts for our August fundraiser
Show. Dick Bishop also passed out fliers at Bay City State
park.
Everyone will receive tickets soon. It is important for our
club as it takes money to have a club. If we want to see guest
speakers at some of our meetings, we will have to generate
money.
July 7 is our Club Picnic, everyone is asked to bring a dish to
pass. Our club is supplying
Brats and Hot dogs, Buns, paper plates, plastic ware. People
who want to help set up at the Zoo be there at 5:30pm. Eating
will begin at 6:00pm.
Dick Bishop gave me a copy of the Bay City Times article
titled “Wood Carvers display, demo slated at library.” Good
job to Dick and everyone that helped at Alice and Jack Wirt
Public Library. If you are going to carve there in July
please confirm with Dick Bishop. Have a great summer and
see you at the Zoo on July 7.
Old Business . If you know of someone sick or in the
Hospital contact Butch Urban (989) 790-1376,
[email protected] or [email protected] . The picnic
is July 7. Paper plates, plastic, and cups will be
provided. Everyone should bring a dish to pass. Mr.
Draper was invited to come along with his family.
New Business There was discussion on whether to allow
carving during the meeting. It was decided that there is
no problem with it if carvers are quiet and respect the
fact there is a meeting in progress. Afterward carvers
will be expected to clean up. Gerald Willis announced
that the Brew at the Zoo Fundraiser is June 18.
Seminars. So far one person has signed up for the Bob
Thurston Carving Seminar.
Show. Starting to sell tables. So far 3 vendor, 3 carver,
2 for featured carver. Phil will distribute tickets at the
picnic.
Show Notes. This year the show is coming along nicely.
We have a nice selection of vendors committed to come.
Tables are beginning to sell. The chain saw carver is
committed to come. We will have soap carving which is
being organized by Gary Klender. Dick Bishop has been
distributing several of our fliers in Bay City. The church
youth will once again provide food for carvers. The Boy
Scouts will be available to help set up and put tables
away afterwards. We continue to need help advertising.
Help us get the word out and if you have suggestions
contact Ed Hak or Dick Bishop.

Carving Demo at Wirt Library Our members have
been invited to demo carve at the Bay County Jack and
Alice Wirt Library. We will be carving from 10:00am to
4:00pm on Saturday July 25th. We will be on the ground
floor near the east entrance by the parking lot. If you
want to be part of these carving sessions please contact
Dick Bishop, 989 529 3324. We will try to accommodate
your schedule if you can only carve a part of the time
scheduled. The Library has offered to supply the tables
and chairs. This is a great opportunity to advertise our
show and the Tri City Carvers. Further information will
follow.
Carving at the Farmers Market We will be carving at
the Downtown Saginaw Farmer's Market again this year.
Our dates are all on Fridays. These dates are July 17,
August 14 (one week before our show), and September
18. I will be looking for folks to carve as in the past.

plaque to Rob Draper for his continued
support of Tri-City Wood Carving Club
activities. It is good to know that someone
values the work we do in the community
to the extent that Mr. Draper has shown
over the years.
