Step 1 – Identifying Your Username

Go to the web site at: http://www.umkc.edu/Exchange-FAQ to get started.

Click on the link that says: What is my Username?

Enter your student ID number and click the “Lookup” button.

The next page displays your username. You will need this username to complete the process.

Click the “Back” button on your Internet Browser (e.g., Netscape, Explorer) to go back to the http://www.umkc.edu/Exchange-FAQ
page.

Go on to Step 2 to set a new password.
Step 2 – Setting Your Password

Enter your birth date and the last four digits of your student ID number in the next box. Use the following format to access the
account: if you were born March 4th (03/04) and the last four digits of your student ID number was 1234, you would enter 03041234.

Set a new password in the next box by entering no fewer than 5 digits and no more than 12 characters. This password is CASE
SENSITIVE (for example, abcde is different than ABCDE).

Confirm the spelling of your new password by entering the same password in the last box.

Click “Update” to set your new password
You have now activated your new UMKC email account.

Online Course Descriptions
Instructor Led Online Asynchronous Course (OA): Teaching and learning
activities occur online through the use of a variety of eLearning technologies
and resources. The course has no required real-time (synchronous) interactions
between instructor and students. The course is characterized by regular and
substantive asynchronous online interactions between course instructor and
course participants. There are defined deadlines for completion of assignments
and other course related activities.

Online - Campus (OC): Participants of an OC course meet between one and
four times on-campus. The remainder of the course occurs online through
activities and interactions using a variety of eLearning technologies and
resources. These activities can occur in real-time (synchronously) or
asynchronously. There are defined deadlines for completion of assignments and
other course related activities.
Hybrid
Blended (B): Participants of a B course meet five or more times on-campus.
The remainder of the course occurs online learning through activities and
interactions using a variety of eLearning technologies and resources. These
activities can occur in real-time (synchronously) or asynchronously. There are
defined deadlines for completion of assignments and other course related
activities.
