Introduction to Blackboard / NESA Virtual School
What is Blackboard?
• Blackboard is a Web-based teaching / organizational tool that allows you to:
 create and design your own online courses or augment your own AIS/D courses
 teach and communicate with your students in the event of
Emergency School Closure or Evacuation
What can I do on Blackboard?
• You can:
 distribute course information
 post handouts and documents
 post announcements & assignments
 email entire classes at once
 run discussion boards
 post assessments that are automatically graded and put into your gradebook
 post your grades to students and parents
 have students drop off assignments electronically
 communicate, communicate, communicate
What are we going to do today?
• After a short presentation – you are going to setup your own Virtual School Courses.
• This will include:
 Connecting to Blackboard (through the AIS/D Website or http://nesa.blackboard.com/)
 Logging-in to Blackboard using your:
User Name: (e.g. chendricks.fac.aisd.bd)
Password: 1 2 3
 Change your password
 Create a permanent “Welcome Announcement” and “1st Assignment” for your students.
 Add a “Course Document” to your course
 Enroll your students into your course.
