Cat Adoption Team receives generous $20,000 grant from the Petco
Cat Adoption Team receives generous $20,000 grant from the Petco Foundation Grant funds will help local shelter save more lives [March 20, 2014] —The Cat Adoption Team (CAT) in Sherwood, Ore., today announced that it has received a $20,000 grant from the Petco Foundation. Funds from this grant will support three programs at CAT to increase the number of cats and kittens the organization can help. Thanks to this generous grant, CAT is able to further the impact of its 9 Lives Transfer Program and kitten foster program. Grant funds also will help CAT start a new program to assist cat owners and others in the community. “CAT is currently poised to significantly increase the number of lives we save each year,” says Karen Green, executive director at CAT. “The Petco Foundation’s support will go a long way in making that possible.” A $20,000 grant from the Petco Foundation will help CAT save the lives of more cats like Kaylee, an FIV-positive cat, who is currently available for adoption from CAT. So far this year, in addition to bringing in cats from local county and other shelters, CAT’s 9 Lives Transfer Program has already begun to assist more felines from organizations in rural Oregon and Washington, as well as farther afield. As “kitten season” approaches, CAT is bolstering its kitten foster program to be able to take in and save far more orphaned, ill, and very young kittens. To provide more focused support and advice to cat owners or good Samaritans who are trying to help stray felines, CAT is developing an animal help line that will roll out later this year.
