Stop By the Host Cabin for Program Information:
As the weather warms up and we start to spend more time outside the National
Council on Skin Cancer Prevention and the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) encourages sun safety awareness. While some sun exposure can be
enjoyable too much can be dangerous. Remember to protect yourself while in the sun.
Fitness in the Forest (FitF) 2015 Challenge - There are 106 days from the Saturday of
Memorial Day Weekend to the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend (the first to the last weekend of the
CCFPD campground programs = 16 Saturdays). Start getting active for 30 or more minutes a day in the
outdoors or wherever you can get in some activity and celebrate each day of activity during this journey.
On day 106 (the 16th Saturday) we will celebrate our successes and the participant that has participated
for the most Saturdays, at Middle Fork River Forest Preserve, will receive a participation award.
Attendance will be monitored by FitF participants dropping their name and contact information in the
FitF drop box. Final determination of the winner in the Challenge is the sole discretion of the
campground naturalist. So, are you up for the challenge to get moving for 30 or more minutes a day
and to live a healthier lifestyle?

Take Me Fishing

SATURDAY,
Forest Preserve this Saturday, 7:00am, starting at the beach.
Meet at the activity center.
Join us for some free fishing fun!
Kids will have a chance to win awards for the
Most Fish, the Biggest Fish, and the Good Sport
Award! Basic fishing instruction will be available
to beginners. Cane poles and bait are available to
use , but you can also bring your own. The
Illinois fishing license requirement has been
waived for this event; all fishing is catch-andrelease.

Bubble Palooza
Meet in grassy area near
the playground and
Willow Pond Beach.

Make massive bubbles
using everyday stuff you
might find around your
house.
2:00 p.m.:
Create Your Own Nature Bracelet
Meet at the beach – with the Campground
Naturalist
Join us as we create our very own Nature
Bracelet.
Supplies are provided.
4:00 – 4:45 p.m.:
Bike Decorating and Face
Painting
Meet in grassy area near Willow
Pond Beach and playground.
Bring your bike (or wagon) and
see how creative you can be when
decorating for the Memorial Day
campground parade.
Parents are encouraged to help
decorate.
Supplies provided; but feel free to
bring your own supplies.
5:00 p.m.:
5th Annual
Memorial Day Parade
Parade to start in grassy area near
Willow Pond Beach.
Everyone is welcome to join in on the
fun. Sit and watch the parade go by
or come along for the trip around the
Middle Fork River Forest Preserve
campground. Did you participate in
decorating your bike/wagon and face
or do you just want to come along?
Then get lined up in the grassy area
near Willow Pond Beach to parade
around the campground.
Notes Regarding All Programs:
Please arrive on time for scheduled programs.
All ages welcome.
A parent or adult guardian must accompany children to all programs.
Long pants, bug spray, close toed shoes, and water recommended on all trail hikes.
Appropriate hiking shoes required for hikes. Flip-flops are not appropriate hiking shoes.
 If thundering or in the case of bad weather check at the host cabin to see if the program has been moved, delayed, or cancelled.
Campground programs are free. If you would like to help offset the cost of supplies, please, feel free to provide a donation.
