LINE FOLLOWER Follower line: Design an autonomous machine (bot) which will move only along a predetermined track. RULES: Dimensions & Fabrication 1. 2. 3. 4. Maximum dimensions of the robot should be 25*25*25 cm. Readymade Lego kits are not allowed. The elimination round will consist of only plain track. The track will consist of sharp as well as smooth turns. There might be 90 degree and acute angle turns also. 5. The width of the line will be constant (2.5cm) throughout the track with a possible error of 5%. 6. The track might also contain few crossovers (places where the line crosses itself), but they will be at 90 degrees to each other. The robot should not take left or right turn on the crossovers. 7. There shall be no discontinuities in the track in prelims. 8. The track will be no closer than 15 cm to the edges of the rectangular board on which the track is made. 9. No two lines will be located in the recent vicinity of each other. 10. The track will be of white color on a black background. However, the white color may not be completely uniform and there might be slight variation in color. 11. The arena is made of wood and such that there is sufficient friction for the robot. 12. The final round will consist of elevations and small bridges on the track. 13. There shall be discontinuities in the track in final round. 14. In Elimination round 2laps or best time have to be completed to qualify for the next round Battery & Power 1. Robots must be autonomous. Data links to off-board computers are allowed, but no wetware (human) operated remote controls will be permitted. 2. The power supply for the vehicle should be contained on-board, and should not exceed 18V at any point of the run. 3. The maximum current rating of the bots is 20A. General rules The judge’s decision will be considered as final decision. Maximum team size must be 4 members. Each team will be given a time slot, delays are strictly not allowed. The event consists of three rounds: - Elimination round, semi-final and the Final round. 5. The teams qualifying the elimination round will be allowed to participate in the next round. 6. Nudging/Pushing or any type of manual handling of the robot will lead to cancellation of that run. 7. Teams will be given 1 min. for calibration of the sensors before the trials. 8. If the robot gets distracted from the track more than two times will be disqualified. And the distraction will be considered as a foul and points will be deducted. 9. During the run the autonomous robot should not expand itself. 10. The organizers will ensure that the track is located within a typical indoor environment in so far as is feasible. You can adjust the lighting shall be entertained. 11. Any robot that loses the line course must reacquire the line at the point where it was lost, or at any check point. 12. When any robot crosses the start line before the referee’s signal, the passage will be interrupted and resumed from the beginning. 13. The robot should not damage the arena at any point. 14. No. trial will be given (testing is allowed) 15. Surprise element will be there in semi-final and final round 1. 2. 3. 4.
