Our year is coming to an end. I am feeling excited for the new adventures our students will have. Spending quality time with your child does not have to cost money. There are many free local events that are wonderful for getting outside and just being present with your child. There are several events going on here in Shelbyville this summer. Movies in the Park Morrison Park on June 12, 26, July 17. Music in the Park Blue River Memorial Park on June 20th, July 18th, August 15th, and September 19th. Reading Adventures in the Park Tuesdays 12:00 for grades Pre-K to 3rd. Located at Morisson Park. This event is for students under 18 years old. There are also activities free of charge at the Shelbyville Library. Please plan to relax a bit this summer and enjoy being together! Community Resources Summer Day Camp Shelbyville Parks and Recreation Center will have summer day camps available this summer. The camp starts Tuesday, May 26th and will end Fri- Breakfast is only served 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club. Parent Tips Make Summer fun and Educational with these tips: Community Events Youth Volleyball Skills Clinic June 1st-5th from 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. for grades 3rd-5th. Cost is $25 1. Try simple science experiments like the baking soda volcano. This is a great outdoors activity! 2. Make up silly stories like a Mad Libs game. 3. Play the Alphabet Hunt game during long road trips. 4. Experiment with various methods of painting. Using your fingers, brushes, marbles, cars/truck tire tracks. Practice mixing colors to see what colors they can create. Character Corner Each month we will be focusing on different character traits. Children will have a chance to have their picture on the Coulston Character Wall next to the Library. May Character Traits Patience Leadership 5. Read, Read, Read!!! Take advantage of the summer reading programs at the local library. .
