Your Gateway To Africa – An Emerging Market
The performance of the water utilities industry is forecast to accelerate, with an
anticipated compound annual growth rate
(CAGR) of 9.8% for the five-year period 2012
- 2017, which is expected to drive the industry to a value of $5.3bn by the end of 2017.
The mining sector in South Africa produces
approximately 315m tonnes of waste which
needs to be treated using techniques, such
as AMD. Global commodity demand influences this as decreased demand results in
less production and less associated waste.
Mining is a key waste contributor
The South African water utilities industry had total revenues of $3.3bn in 2012,
representing a (CAGR) of 8.6% between
2008 and 2012. 310 billion EUR are invested for the implementation of infrastructure measures within the next 15 years.
The Department of Water Affairs South
Africa received additional allocations
over the MTEF period of R1.286 billion in
2013/14, R2.876 billion in 2014/15 and R5.5
in 2015/16.
