About the conference The 12th International Conference on General Linguistics (CILG2016) will be held at the University of Alcalá from 24 – 26 May, 2016. This is the next in the series of conferences which began in Valencia (1994) and subsequently continued in the cities of Granada (1996), Salamanca (1998), Cádiz (2000), León (2002), Santiago de Compostela (2004), Barcelona (2006), Madrid (2008), Valladolid (2010), Zaragoza (2012) and Pamplona (2014). In the centenary year of the publication of the Cours de linguistique générale by the Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure, the CILG2016 seeks to be the forum in which scholars specialising in language and languages may present their research to the scientific community. By means of different types of session, linguists will have the opportunity to show those linguistic studies being carried out from their theoretical perspective; to attend plenary lectures by prestigious researchers; to participate in round tables on current issues: to exchange experiences with other participants; and, of course, to visit the city of Alcalá de Henares, a UNESCO World Heritage city since 1998. How to participate The CILG2016 is organising the following types of session: 1. Papers Papers presented at the CILG2016 will be grouped in the following sections: S1. Phonetics and Phonology S2. Morphology S3. Syntax S4. Lexicology S5. Semantics S6. Discourse and conversation analysis S7. Pragmatics S8. Dialectology and Sociolinguistics S9. Cognitive linguistics S10. Historical linguistics S11. Applied linguistics S12. Linguistic theory and Linguistic historiography As far as possible, the papers included in each section will be grouped in blocks according to topic in order to create a favourable context for the presentation and the participation of those in attendance. 2. Presentation of thematic networks The CILG2016 will offer the possibility of informing about national and international thematic networks formed by research teams whose scientific activity falls within the field of Linguistics. 3. Presentation of research projects The CILG2016 will accept recent and consolidated group investigation projects which analyse questions concerning languages and language. 4. Presentation of research plans In the CILG2016, those studying for doctorates in Linguistics and related specialities may present their research plans and thesis proposals in poster form. Scientific programme As well as the sessions devoted to Papers, Presentations of thematic networks, Presentations of research projects and Presentations of research plans, in the CILG2016, plenary lectures will be given by: • Dr. D. Submission of proposals The complete instructions for the submission of proposals (deadline: 15th November, 2015) can be downloaded on the conference website (http://cilg2016.org/index/13/types-ofparticipation?idioma=2). Papers Presentation of thematic networks Presentation of research projects Presentation of research plans Contributions will be allowed no longer than 20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion. Submission of abstracts for participation in any of the categories must be made via the registration form which can be found on the conference website (http://cilg2016.org/formulario/14/submission-of-proposal/6/presentation-ofcontributions/?idioma=2). The authors of each communication should indicate in which section they wish to be included. When the abstracts have been reviewed anonymously by members of the conference committees, the applicants will be informed of the decision. All the signatories of papers and presentations must be registered for the conference. If any participant wishes to offer more than one contribution, there will be an extra charge of 40 €, or 20 € in the case of students. Those who do not participate in any category will receive attendance certificates. ** Students must provide a document proving their student status, signed by their Head of Department or Institute, or the Dean of their Faculty.
