Workshop Overview and Goals Southern Partnership in Advanced Networking, April 8-‐9, 2015 SPAN • NSF funded CC*IIE Regional project – Advanced networking workshops – Site visits • Partnership with Georgia State University, South Carolina State University, and University of Georgia • Internet2 and ESnet are collaborators • Goals: – Build a regional community of pracQQoners – Face to face networking – Work with colleges and universiQes to develop or update campus cyberinfrastructure plans – Share informaQon/partner on infrastructure grant opportuniQes – Bridge the gap between campus academic and IT communiQes Southern Partnership in Advanced Networking, April 8-‐9, 2015 SPAN • Each workshop will be two days in length. • Focus areas include: – – – – – – – Network design principles Network tools and performance Developing a Campus CI Plan SupporQng researchers Best pracQces Advanced compuQng on the naQonal and regional level Site visits (available by request from schools who aXend a workshop) • Small enough group for great discussions – so please ask lots of quesQons • Two breakout sessions – Grant wriQng best pracQces for CI focused proposals – Hands-‐on perfSONAR installaQon and configuraQon Southern Partnership in Advanced Networking, April 8-‐9, 2015
