Our students are living, and we are parenting, in the digital age.. There are many websites and apps that children may be exploring due to popular culture or word of mouth.
Below are some popular websites and apps that students are using and creating their
own personal accounts. Please note that many of these apps which your child may have
downloaded actually have minimum age requirements.
-Facebook , Instagram, Tango, Kik, Habbo, Fixster, Skype and Hangouts all have a minimum age of 13 Years Old
-Snap Chat age requirement is 13 Years Old with Parental Consent
-Vine minimum age is 17 Years Old
-Twitter does not have a minimum age requirement. However, if Twitter finds out that
you are under 13 and have released personal information about yourself, they will attempt to delete information and cancel account)
‘Relay for Life’ PJ Day is
Friday, April 3. All students may pay a dollar
and are able to wear
their PJ'S to school.
Monitoring what your child is downloading on their technology devices is extremely
important. It is vital that we are working together to keep our children safe while
online. There is a wealth of information online but with that also comes some dangers
that are children need to be made aware of.
Two good resources for parents are Common Sense Media
(www.commonsensemedia.org) and Net Smartz (http://www.netsmartz.org/Parents)
April 14th is the first grade field trip to LEGO LAND
