MediMat - CMP Specialty Products
MediMat
Founded, Based and
MADE IN THE U.S.A.
Alkali Resistant, Dispersible Fiber Reinforcement
for use with CMP Self Leveling Underlayments
DESCRIPTION:
MediMat™ creates a super strong web of fiber reinforcement throughout the self-leveling matrix. The binder
adhering the fibers together dissolves once the CMP™ self-leveling is placed. The Medimat application does
not require the addition of additives to the leveling compound.

MediMat™ imparts a tremendous increase in tensile and flexural strength, allowing CMP self levelings to be
placed over many distressed substrates without the need for traditional surface preparation. CMP vapor
mitigation products can also be applied over these reinforced, CMP Self levelings (Cement Based). MediMat is
excellent for applications over wood or other substrates that exhibit deflection up to L/360.
PRODUCT FEATURES:
 Requires only 1/4” of underlayment placement
 Eliminates the need for traditional surface preparation
 Does not require any adhering, gluing or fastening
 Very fast and easy to install
 Tremendous increase in tensile and flexural strength
 Alkali resistant, non-flammable fibers
 Bridges minor cracks in existing substrate up to 1/8”
 Expedites placement of CMP’s self leveling underlayments
 Can be used interior / exterior
 Superior to plywood or cement board under Resilient, Carpet, Coatings & Toppings
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION AND PRIMING BY SUBSTRATE:
GENERAL NOTE: MediMat™ is NOT a vapor barrier. Test substrate as per ASTM F-1869 for (MVER) and
ASTM F-2170 for (RH) If levels exceed those permissible by any component in the flooring system, apply CMP
LOCK DOWN™.
ALL substrates must be clean, dry, 50˚ F and free of oil, loose floor covering, weak patching compounds.
Remaining materials must be unaffected by the moisture incurred from the placement of self-leveling. Never
use Acid or Mastic Removers on any surface to which a CMP product will be applied.
CONCRETE (ROUGH, OPEN & POROUS):
Priming: Dilute AS-100 Primer 1:1 with clean water and apply evenly using a nylon push broom with exploded
tips. Apply a thin coat and work into surface leaving no puddles or bare spots. MediMat should be placed once
AS-100 is completely dry. Leveling compounds should be placed within 24 hours.

STORAGE: (Store rolls upright)
60° - 90° F (35% - 65% RH)
UNDERLAYMENT: (See extension)
Minimum depth: 1/4”
Maximum depth: 1” per Layer of MediMat
PROPERTIES:
Electrical Conductivity - Very Low
Chemical Resistance - Very High
GYPSUM UNDERLAYMENT (Gyp-Crete) AND HIGHLY POROUS CONCRETE:
Priming: Dilute the first coat 1 Part primer to 3 Parts water. Pour out or spray primer liberally and disperse with
a soft exploded tip broom allowing it to penetrate. Continually broom primer out to a thin film while drying,
leave no puddles or bare spots. Allow the first coat to dry for a minimum of 2 hours.
Dilute the second coat 1 Part primer to 1 Part water and apply a thin coat as described above using an
exploded tip broom. Apply MediMat once AS-100 is dry (Minimum 1 hour) and up to 24 hours. If AS-100 has
dried longer than 24 hours a second coat of AS-100 may be required.
NON-POROUS (BURNISHED CONCRETE, EPOXY, TERRAZZO, CERAMIC, QUARRY TILE, LEAD,
ALUMINUM AND COPPER):
Priming: Apply one thin coat of AS-100 (Undiluted) using a 3/8” nap roller. Apply MediMat once AS-100 is dry
(Minimum 1 hour) and up to 24 hours. If AS-100 has dried longer than 24 hours a second coat of AS-100 may
be required.

MEDIMAT
WOOD: (MIN. 3/4”, L/360, UNTREATED, APA RATED, TYPE-1, EXTERIOR GRADE, PLYWOOD, OR OSB)
ADHESIVE RESIDUE: (THIN, TRANSLUCENT NON-WATER SOLUBLE, FREE OF TACK &
WELL BONDED.)
NOTE: When handling cut-back installations refer to the Resilient Floor Covering Institute booklet
“Recommended Work Practices for the Removal of Resilient Floor Coverings”.
Priming: Dilute AS-100 Primer 1:1 with clean water and apply evenly using a soft exploded tip broom. MediMat
should be placed once AS-100 is completely dry. Leveling compounds should be placed within 24 hours.
INSTALLATION:
Prefill Dormant (Static Cracks) and saw cuts with a suitable patching material such as RampStar or PrepStar.
Simply roll out MediMat™ over the properly prepared and primed surface. Overlap all seams a minimum of 1”
and cut to fit using scissors. A single layer of MediMat™ can be used to reinforce CMP Self-Leveling
applications up to 1” thick. Place an additional layer of mat for thicknesses up to 2”. Mat installation does not
need to be “Wrinkle Free” as the product breaks down into individual fibers after the self-leveling is placed.
Place a minimum of 1/4” of underlayment over MediMat. Once the mat is covered, gauge rake and work the
underlayment in a crosshatch pattern. A CMP Porcupine or Agitating Roller may be required to properly
disburse the fibers.
When barrel mixing, do not drag the barrels over the MediMat. CMP recommends the use of a hand truck,
dolly or cart to transport material. A lane of Masonite can also be laid from the mixing station to the placement
area.
APPLICATION NOTES:
1. MediMat should be visible in the cement after placement. Pouring or pumping the self leveling back into
already placed material will help in disbursing the fibers.
2. Sanding, patching or an additional topcoat may be required to cover fiber texture depending on floor
covering and application.
3. For large applications, underlayment can be pumped over MediMat using an approved mixing pump such as
the m-tec Duo 2000™.
4. FLOATING ASSEMBLIES: For constructing a floating floor using MediMat, contact CMP Technical for
project specific instructions.
STORAGE:
Store in cool dry place. Tightly seal
package and do not expose to sun.
