CROOK COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT What’s happening in Crook County? Crook County’s Community Development Department is busier than ever with the spring construction season in full swing. Planning Department permits have more than doubled from a low of 149 permits in 2011 to 334 permits in 2014, Building permits have also increased from 1,046 in 2012 to 1,384 in 2014. The County has seen a significant increase in single family dwelling construction and large projects such as the hospital and new school. We anticipate continued growth in permits associated with data center expansions, remodels of existing schools, continued new home construction, and possible construction of alternative energy projects. New County Building Official ‐ Michael LeBeau Michael joined us in February after working for the Oregon State Building Codes Division in Bend as the Regional Coordinator. Prior to that he served 8 years as the Building Official in Bannock County (Pocatello, Idaho) With over 20 years in the construction field, Michael understands both sides of the permit counter and works hard to guide people through the permit and inspection process. Michael brings a wealth of experience to us and we are pleased to welcome him to our team. E‐permitting In October, 2014, the County switched our permit records to the State Building Code Division’s new e‐permitting system ‐ Accela. It allows contractors to apply for simple permits on line. The public can access recent building permits from the new E‐permitting site without a user name or password by entering the property address or tax lot information at: https://aca.oregon.accela.com/oregon/ APRIL 2015 New Hours Beginning May 4th2015 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 by appointment M‐F NO BUILDING PERMITS WILL BE ISSUED ON MAY 14‐15 DUE TO TRAINING. INSPECTIONS WILL BE SCHEDULED. Fees We will not be proposing any increase in planning department fees this year. However, changes in valuation tables, required by the State Building Codes Division, went into effect April 1, 2015. Because the Department is service fee oriented, we need to cover those associated costs. Beginning May 4, 2015, we will charge a minimum $25.00 research fee to retrieve old building and land use permits. Many recent building permits are available on the e‐
permitting website. Depending on the complexity of the request, we can generally respond within 48 hours. Crook County Community Development Team Crook County relies on a small team of dedicated professionals to help ensure that land use actions and building permits are issued in an efficient and timely manner. The team provides one‐stop permitting for land use, addressing, on‐site, environmental health permits and building permits. We provide code enforcement services and building inspections.
