On the 12th February, our school celebrated
Carnival.
This year, we made superheros costumes, and all
the school wore them.
Primary and the little kids went out, to the town,
to go for a walk, singing and dancing, while the
oldest kids, who are in ESO, walked with them,
helping the teachers.
Some of us went with the children and the rest
stayed in the entrance of the school playing
instruments. The families came with us too, taking
photos and waving at their sons and daughters.
At the end of the afternoon, we returned to
school and we all ate ‘churros’ and hot chocolate,
it was so nice.
It was sunny and hot. The atmosphere was
fantastic and we had a great time together.
By Nayra Bertol and Alexandra Eriksson 4th ESO
We are so grateful for the time we have spent
together.
Happy 10th Anniversary!!!!!

PROCESS
AND RESULT
Videogames
Teenagers today often spend a great deal of time
playing video games. These games are fun,
engaging and young people often feel like playing
games is a great thing to do in their spare time.
On the one hand some teenagers may argue that
because they can now play their games online
with friends, they are socializing in their own way.
However, you can’t beat face-to-face contact, and
if you want to succeed in interviews and build
good relationships in later life, you need to develop
some proper communication skills. This shouldn’t
be a chore, or difficult, because hanging out with
friends is far more fun than sitting indoors playing
on games all day anyway!
One of my favorite videogames is Assassin´s
Creed, because it has a great objective, it shows
how people used to live many years ago.

Videogames can teach us
People always say that playing
videogames too much is bad, but it isn´t
always true.
Videogames also can teach us some
things, for example, Assassin Creed shows
us parts of history and Call of Duty
teaches us about survival and other
cultures.
We can also learn about things from other
ages, for example in Forge of Empires,
there are things used as entertainment
that we can also learn about different
times in history, like buildings,
monuments, weapons and important
people. Not all games are bad you can
always learn new things.
Do you agree with us?

Bakery
It´s a great hobby, it is fun to make cakes, to decorate and also eat them.
There are many ways to decorate a cake and also many recipes.
The challenge for this hobby is choosing a recipe, the way you decorate it,
to make it look good.
There are a lot of books and courses to learn how to bake, but you can try
to do it using trial and effort
When a person doesn’t have any experience making cake, everything is an
adventure.
Nowadays there are several techniques used in cakes decoration the most
common are:
Buttercream or Vienna cream – this is an easy-to-use
frosting that fills gaps and covers up all sorts of unsightly
cake bumps and dips! It produces a whipped cream style of
appearance and can be smoothed down or allowed to settle in
peaks. Buttercream frosting is easy to color and flavor, with
typical flavors including chocolate, vanilla, lemon, coffee, and
strawberry.
Sugar paste – sugar paste is rolled fondant. It's usually
easiest to purchase it ready-made from cake decorating
suppliers.
Royal icing – this is similar to sugar paste and is often
available ready-made.

Not all young people like reading, only a few usually read
books.
In a group of teenagers if you ask “Do you usually read?” Most
of them will answer “no” or they will say “I only read
messages received in a chat”
There are a lot of types of books: romantic, science fiction,
adventure, action, thriller, fantasy…
When we are at school, language teachers ask us to read
books that usually aren´t entertaining, we then have to
answer questions about the content. Many people start hating
reading because they think that all books are as boring as the
ones at school.
We think reading is important because if you read it gives you
knowledge of many different things. We think that reading is
fun because you read different kinds of things that can help
you in your future.
In 1971 a man called Michael Hart created something similar
to an electronic book which only could be used by a computer.
In 1981 the electronic book was published with commercials
objectives but recently this invention has improved in the last
twenty years. They can now store thousands of books and
they allow you to purchase books as electronic text without
ever having to go out to a bookstore to buy them.

Greetings from Denmark!
We are a group of 25 students and 2 teachers from Grenaa
Gymnasium in Denmark who are currently visiting Colegio
Vallmont. We would like to express our gratitude for the
way families, students and teachers have hosted our stay in
Villanueva. This past week we have been living with our
host families from Colegio Vallmont, and all our students
have had a great time here. The students have atended
classes at school , and they have also been on excursions to
Madrid, el Escorial , Segovia and other places. This cultural
Exchange really means a lot to our students and ours school
because cultural Exchange helps students develop and
strengthen their language skills. All people involved have
truly opened their homes and hearts to the Danish students,
and in fact it seems almost imposible to express how
grateful we are for this experience. Thank you very much to
all of you!!

Following Amco advises we have been working in our classes with
Story Telling programs. Each term we pick a different book for each
level and based on it we develop different skills of English as a second
language.
Our idea is to introduce an english language to our students in a
progression of different levels. We stress that children not only
understand the topics but also can speak as fluent as possible.
One of the books we read together, with our 5 year old students, was
called “The Grufallo” written by Julia Donaldson. It’s a simple story
about a mouse that encounters 3 different animals that want to eat it.
Throughout this short novel, written in rhyme, the mouse in a clever
way is able to convince other animal that, gruffalo the strongest
animal around, is its best friend. When gruffalo sees that other
animals are afraid of the mouse, gets convinced that his new friend is
actually the strongest of them all and decides not to eat it. In a funny
and clever way this story demonstrates that one could defend itself
with many creative ways.
After reading this book together the children act it out, sequence the
story through pictures, reproduce dialogues, sing, dance and learn a
lot of vocabulary and expressions. Also, it was a great opportunity to
play and interact together, all in English.
It’s never too young to learn the importance of
keeping safe, and becoming wise to the dangers the
little ones of Vallmont are faced with as they grow up.
We were lucky enough to receive a visit from two
officers who came to see us from the local police
department.
They arrived with their blue lights flashing and sirens
blaring and much to our surprise they also came with a
very well behaved dog called “Reina”
They explained how to keep safe when crossing the
roads, how we should never talk to strangers and how
we should always behave and listen to the grown-ups
around us. We were even allowed to get inside the
police car and try on their uniforms. They certainly
proved that they are always here to help and serve.

PEN FRIENDS
When we started the sencond term, we had to write
letters about our hobbies, customs, favourite subject
to a group of English students.
We were excited about receiving their answers, we
had to wait several weeks, then they told us that
they got them!! We were so happy, we read them
and our classmates were surprised because their
answers were so interesting and curious. We have
noticed that their customs are different from ours.
We wish that the Project continues and in a future
we could get to know them.

When the bell rings
Do you think it is really necessary to give up your
hobbies to gain better grades or even keep a C?
You'd be amazed of how many think this way.
Obviously this won't always be great for grades,
as it can affect negatively on marks because you
stop hanging out with their friends in order to
study, decreasing drastically your social life.
Then, there are the extra classes, for example, my
parents let me continue with arts and volleyball in
exchange of going to some of these extra lessons.
Let's say that whether you do well with your
studies in Primary school, you could continue with
your extra activities when you go to the
secondary.
