 University of Memphis Fall 2015 Colorguard Audition Details Saturday April 25th 2015 Elma Roane Field House $1,000 Scholarships available The audition process will consist of the following: 1. Individual First Round Auditions (use the contacts below to set up a time for the morning of 4-­‐25-­‐15 or receive a walk in time on morning of 4-­‐25-­‐15) A routine that you create demonstrating your skills and ability. You may include flag only, flag and rifle, or flag, rifle, and sabre. The flag you use must have a 6 foot pole. You may perform this to music of your choosing. You will perform this routine before the judges. You may bring a CD or mp3 player for your audition. Make sure you have 2 copies J UST I N C ASE O NE D OES N OT W ORK! D o n ot u se a ny props i n y our a udition r outine. Use the following guide when creating your routine: 1. Flag only – 1 minute in length 2. Flag and Rifle – 30 seconds of flag and 30 seconds of rifle 3. Flag, Rifle, and Sabre – 30 seconds of flag, 30 seconds of rifle, and 30 seconds of sabre. PLEASE NOTE: Auditioning on rifle and sabre does not guarantee anyone a weapons spot. Those auditions are held during Fall Camp in August. 2. Call Backs (afternoon of 4-­‐25-­‐14) A group routine which consists of 50% dance and 50% flag which you will learn during the clinic and perform before the judges. We use 6 foot flag poles at The University of Memphis and a 6 foot pole must be used during this section of auditions also. Required Audition apparel: • Black form fitting top • Black form fitting dance pants (Capri length or shorter) • Black or beige split sole jazz shoes or bare feet *Please bring a color 4 by 6 headshot with you to auditions *The warm up room is open to the public, but all Audition and Choreography rooms are closed General Schedule for 4-­‐25-­‐14 9AM -­‐12 PM Individual Auditions (Arrive at least ½ an hour before your assigned time to fill out your registration papers. Call or e-­‐mail contacts below for an assigned time. Walk in times are first come first serve.)
