 7 May 2015 Dear Neighbour: Re: Columbia Containers Rebuilding Project – 2775 Commissioner Street Columbia Containers is a primarily farmer-­‐owned Canadian company that has been successfully operating a grain transloading facility at 2775 Commissioner Street for more than 40 years. To remain competitive and better serve growing global market demand, we have requested permits from Port Metro Vancouver to reposition and rebuild our grain transloading infrastructure. Our project includes decommissioning the aging grain elevator and track shed, and building a new grain transloading facility to replace it. The proposed facility would be situated slightly north (toward the water) and west of our existing elevator. The project also includes installing nine grain storage silos to replace our temporary container storage and moving our office building (please see attached brochure for location details and facility dimensions). The permits we have requested are: 1. Demolition of System II (secondary system, stores facility and workshop) 2. Retaining Wall Realignment (to accommodate Port Metro Vancouver’s realignment of Commissioner Street) 3. New Grain Transloading Facility (grain elevator and storage silos) 4. Modular Office Building This letter is to provide you with important information about the proposed project as well as to let you know how to provide input on the design options for the new grain transloading facility.
