Commodore Yacht Club Member of the Boat/US Cooperating Marina Program Commodore Yacht Club • 6002 River Road • Nashville, TN • 37209 • 615.356.4110 This newsletter is also posted on our website at www.commodoreyachtclub.com Board meetings are scheduled the third Monday of the month at 5:30pm. CYC News June 2015 May Meeting Highlights The minutes from the previous meeting were approved. Financials were reviewed, including fuel costs, ramp memberships and interest gained on accounts. The financials were approved. Fuel costs were discussed and lower fuel cost to CYC members will be marketed as a membership benefit. A sign may be posted at the ramp members noting our fuel has no ethanol which may increase fuel sales to ramp members. A few items appear on reports as assets and some may have been disposed of or fully depreciated, Belita will look into this and make updates as needed. The diesel fuel pump is very slow and may need some attention due to the time it takes to fuel up. There were some initial issues with emailing bills but things seem to be working now. It was suggest that invoices go to members under the name of CYC rather than from a name that some members may not recognize. Hoil will check into setting up a CYC email for billing. A few members remain behind on their accounts. Delinquent accounts will be sent certified letters noting that a lien on their boat or slip may be levied if their account is not brought up-to-date. A motion was made and the Board voted unanimously to proceed. Plumbing repair bids and logistics were outlined. Additional work may be added to the scope of work that was used for bidding if we can negotiate a good price while the installer is on site. Repair work was approved and the work will begin ASAP. Some trailers in storage are owned by people with overdue accounts and collection steps will be taken. Ron reported 42 ramp memberships were sold this month with a total of 112 ramp members. 8 keys were sold to full members and 3 storage spaces were rented. It was agreed the gate codes should wait to be changed after the CCBC’s visit in July. We are presently keeping about $34,000 in the checking account and only need approximately $18,000 available for fixed expenses. The Board asked Belita to go over all accounts and determine how much money should be maintained in the checking account for expenses and if it would be wise to move the overage to an interest bearing account. She will report back to the Board at the June meeting. Ramp repair is needed now. There is a deep, wide hole in the center of the ramp where Ron has placed a warning marker. Various methods of repair were discussed from adding gravel to resurfacing with new slabs. It was agreed to pursue the lower cost, short-term alternative for now. Chris will order gravel and bring equipment to distribute it and fill in the holes. The wooden walkway next to the ramp needs repairs and may need a liability review. Various methods of growing our membership were discussed. It was agreed we still need to promote full memberships but also focus on how to attract rental members since they would increase the club’s fixed income, contribute to social events and would assist members who own slips that are available for rent. Several ideas were discussed of how to attract rental members. It was agreed that the 112 ramp members may be a source for a rental membership or two.
