Celebration. If this is something you would like to do, please see Mrs. Francis in the Commons.
JUNIORS: Find the words to tell your next school who you really are. Plan, write, revise, and polish an actual college essay
with peer and teacher guidance. Sign up online for the College Essay Workshop, given June 2-5. Questions?

ACTIVITIES
Attention Seniors: The Viator Voice Senior Issue survey opens Tuesday, March 24 and closes Wednesday, April 8 at
9:00 PM. All seniors are encouraged to add their responses to this special issue, but we will not accept late responses, so make
sure you complete it by April 8.
ATHLETICS

-Boys’ water polo will begin play in the Evanston Tournament today with matches beginning at 4:15 p.m.
-Freshman and Sophomore baseball will host Elk Grove today for games at 4:30; varsity baseball will play Elk Grove at
Heritage Park field also at 4:30 p.m.
-JV2 soccer will travel to Evanston for a game at 4:30 p.m.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE
Queen of the Rosary Alums – Please let Ms. Fons know ASAP if you plan on attending the parish luncheon next Tuesday,
March 24th during 5th period.
There are many service opportunities in the next few weekends. They include:
 Des Plaines Public Library - Friday, March 27th -6:30 – 9:00 p.m. They need a couple strong workers to volunteer to
help move cartons of books
 St. Raymond Parish Garage Sale – this weekend
New service opportunities at St. Anne Parish in Barrington just in – an Easter Egg hung on Saturday, April 4th and a Mother
Daughter event on April 11th.
COUNSELING
Marquette University is a Catholic and Jesuit university located near the heart of downtown Milwaukee, Wis., that offers a
comprehensive range of majors in 11 nationally and internationally recognized colleges and schools. A Marquette education

members of SVHS class of 2015 applied to Marquette than any other school!
Benedictine University, a Catholic university located in nearby Lisle, IL, is one of the most diverse schools in the nation
(33% minority), has 55 undergraduate majors, and has 20 men’s and women’s NCAA Division III sports teams. A
representative will be here on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 11:00 – 1:15. Come to the table and find out why Forbes
magazine has ranked BU among “America’s Top Colleges” for three consecutive years.
Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN has seen 93% of its graduates in the last ten years, earn a degree in four years,
compared to 78 % at non-profit privates and 52 % at public institutions. Also, as a St. Mary’s student, you can also take
courses and participate in extracurricular activities at the University of Notre Dame and Holy Cross College. A representative
will be here March 26, 2015 from 10:00-1:15. Stop by the table in the Boler Gym and see how this women’s college could be
your answer.
Rotary Club of Mount Prospect/Prospect Heights is offering a $1000 scholarship opportunity to residents of Mount
Prospect and Prospect Heights. Applications are available in the counseling office and must be submitted in triplicate by
April 10, 2015.
The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), in collaboration with the four branches of the military services,
offers a series of engineering/STEM camps designed for high school students who excel in math, science and technology
courses and are interested in pursuing engineering, architecture, or a related field in college. These one-week camps are high
energy, hands-on events for students from across the country and around the world. For example, the USAFA camp theme is
"Build then Design". Some of the activities include: place a concrete beam and destructive testing, water purification, build an
irrigation system, material testing, shed construction, AFA laboratory tours, problem-solving activities and much more. Most

William J. Cook Fund Scholarships have been established to assist male high school seniors from Cook County who plan
to attend an accredited four year college or university. Recipients will receive from $1000 - $5000 and are selected based on
merit and financial need. All applications must be submitted electronically. For more information and to apply, go to
www.scholarshipamerica.org/williamjcook. All applications must be submitted by April 15, 2015.
Salvi, Schostok, and Pritchard P.C. Essay Scholarship Contest is now open to high school seniors who have been
accepted into a higher learning institution within Illinois. The first prize is $2,500, the second prize is $1,500, the third prize is
$500 and 5 honorable mention prizes of $100 each will be awarded. Your essay must answer the following question: How
serious is the problem of distracted driving among young drivers? The link to all the scholarship information and rules are at

University of Illinois UC Sigma Phi Epsilon Balance Man Scholarship is offering three awards of $1750 to incoming
male students who have excelled in the areas scholarship, leadership, athletics, and community service. To qualify you must be
a full-time student at the U of I, UC and fill out the online application found at www.illinoissigeps.com by May 1, 2015.
Applying for this scholarship in no way obligates you to join the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. If you have any further
