1. Prevention of Falls in the Older Client – cohealth (Free to Public)
This session will help you to understand some of the issues which affect older client’s ability to do a
gym program and the questions that you should ask to avoid injury in your program.
How you can alter an exercise to make it safer for clients with these common problems. This is very
important as injury in this age group can cause life changing disability and put people off exercise.
It will also suggest how to add in some extras to your classes so that you will be challenging balance
and so assisting in falls reduction in the older community.
2. Fun, Fitness and the Pelvic Floor – Vic Continence Resource Centre – (Free to Public)
More than 4.8 million Australians experience bladder or bowel control problems.
The forum is divided into two sessions; a continence nurse delivers the first session on how the pelvic floor
works for both men and women and what can go wrong. A women’s health physiotherapist delivers the
second session on teaching the audience to practice pelvic floor exercises and what to avoid.
3. Heartmoves YMCA - (Free to Pubic)
Heartmoves is a low to moderate intensity exercise program specifically designed to cater for people with
lifestyle risk factors and those living with stable health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity
etc. How does it differ from Living Longer living Stronger and Pryme Movers?
4. Living Longer Living Stronger – COTA’s Exercise program – (For fitness instructors)
COTA’s “Strength Training” exercise program is designed to increase strength, balance, flexibility and
coordination, which helps to improve your confidence and reduce the risk of falls. Hear the success stories
of older people who have turned their life around to become healthier and stronger.
5. Networking for Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers
Accreditation for Fitness Instructors Pending with
Fitness Australia and Physical Activity Australia
Local fitness instructors will be sharing their stories and examples of exercises and activities
Bring along your ideas and questions and share them with other instructors.

Anyone over 50 and anyone interested in the health and well-being of people over 50 years,
Cost: Morning sessions free for older people, LLLS Instructors - $88/ person or Non LLLS Instructors $125/
person, LLLS Fitness Centres – Group - $260 (up to 6) Non Fitness Centres – Group - $440 (up to 6)
