Melnichuk and his wife moved to Calgary where he serves as the Director of Ministry Relations for Crossroads Christian Communications (Western Canada), as well as the Director of Operations for YES TV, Alberta. Ministry-wise, he holds his credentials with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, pastored for 23 years, and produced and hosted programs on YES TV dealing with workplace ministry (whatido), and a live apologetics call-in show based on cultural issues that challenge our Biblical worldview (It’s Your Call). As the Director of Ministry Relations, Rev. Melnichuk’s goal is to bring an awareness to the on-going legacy of Crossroads Ministries. Who are we? What do we do? Why we are doing it? Crossroads is more than just 100 Huntley Street. Rev. Melnichuk would be delighted to make Crossroads Ministries and/or YES TV visible to your leadership and to answer any questions regarding our desire to support your local congregations. He also welcomes the opportunity to minister to your congregations with a message about Jesus and the power of media. Canada West District Church of the IN THE OOP Camp Harmattan Speaker Dr. Jim Diehl The 1993 General Assembly of the Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis, Indiana, elected Dr. James Diehl to the Board of General Superintendents. In 2009, after he served 16 years in this role, the 27th General Assembly in Orlando, Florida, bestowed on him the honor of general superintendent emeritus status. A love for ministry has always been at the center of his heart. Dr. Diehl has pastored in numerous churches conducting live radio programs, and developing weekly TV broadcasts. In addition he served as DS for a combined ten years in the districts of Nebraska and Colorado. Dr. Diehl is a prolific writer of numerous articles that have appeared in the Herald of Holiness, Holiness Today, Preacher’s Magazine, Bread, World Mission, The Holiness Digest, Perspective, and others. He is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, and in 1990 Northwest Nazarene University conferred on him a Doctor of Divinity degree in recognition of his outstanding achievements. His passion for education has led him to serve on the boards of trustees at several of our Nazarene Universities. He also served as chairman of the Board of Regents at Northwest Nazarene University. In 2011 the Board of Trustees at MNU invited Dr. Diehl to serve as interim president of the University—a position he held for seven months while they conducted a search for a new president. At the close of his service at the University, the trustees presented James H. Diehl with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Diehl married the love of his life, Dorothy, and together they raised four children. They have seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The Diehls make their home in Lakewood, Colorado. As Paul described his ministry to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:11, so Dr. Diehl describes his calling—to be a pastor, a preacher, and an administrator. While laying down the administrative call, his passion continues with an ongoing preaching ministry from a pastor’s heart. He frequently speaks at camp meetings, college revivals, district ministerial retreats, district lay retreats, zone crusades, and international events. Canada West District Church of the IN THE OOP New this month, Ruthanne Knows!!! Hey Ruthanne, I know that I can earn Life Long Learning credits by taking seminars, or attending conferences, but I was unable to get away from my local ministry this year and I don’t think I have fulfilled my quota for the year, is there anything I can do to increase the number of hours I’ve already submitted? Kind Regards, Under my 20 hours! Dear Under 20, There are a number of ways you can earn LLL credit. Seminars, Conferences, Prayer Retreats, or online courses are some of the ways you can earn the hours you need for each year. An ordained minister is required to fill 20 hours per year of this sort of thing. If however you have been unable to attend any of these sorts of things in the past year, you can earn a full ten hours (1/2 of your requirement) by completing a Book Report, and submitting between a 250 and 500 page book report to the District Superintendent. If you have any questions at all you can go online to our website http://cwdnazarene.org/documents.php and check out the FAQ page and/or the Book Report instructions. In this way you can fulfill your required hours without ever leaving your congregation! Regards, Ruthanne Williams, Learning Coordinator, Canada West District
