Daibochi eyes new opportunities in Asia Pacific
 Commercialized new product innovation for FMCG sector
in 2Q15, targeting another in 3Q15 for the F&B sector
 1Q15 PBT rises 14.3% to RM8.1 million from 4Q14; on
2.5% revenue growth to RM86.2 million
 Declares 1st interim single tier dividend of 3.5 sen in
respect of FY2015 payable on 19 June 2015
Melaka, Malaysia, 7 May 2015 – Leading flexible packaging manufacturer Daibochi
Plastic and Packaging Industry Berhad (Daibochi; 耐 慕志 ; Bloomberg: DPP:MK;
Reuters: DPPM.KL) remains optimistic of achieving new export sales in 2015, mainly
from Australia and South East Asia on the back of new product innovations.
Daibochi’s Managing Director Mr. Thomas Lim said that both developed and developing
countries still hold strong growth potential in the long term, alongside rapid
urbanization and increased consumer mobility.
“Daibochi had, in the second quarter of 2015 (2Q15), commercialized our in-house
developed innovation for a leading multinational corporation’s (MNC) fast moving
consumer goods (FMCG) products in Australia.
We expect to commercialize another innovation for the MNC during the third quarter
of 2015 (3Q15), for its food and beverage (F&B) products in South East Asia.
These successful commercialisations, through our research and development efforts,
clearly demonstrate that our product innovations support the evolving requirements
of major MNCs in the region. We are confident that our efforts would continue to be
translated into higher export sales going forward. With this, the Group is well-poised
to achieve a record turnover in the current financial year.”

Commenting on the Group’s outlook for the year ahead, Lim said: “We are mindful of
ongoing fluctuations to currency and raw material prices, and are prepared to employ
the necessary mitigating measures. Meanwhile, we also continue to optimize our
operational efficiency through better waste control and production methodologies,
which would go a long way towards reinforcing our business performance.”
Results for the first quarter ended 31 March 2015 (1Q15)
Daibochi recorded revenue of RM86.2 million revenue for 1Q15, declining 4.7% from
RM90.4 million in the previous corresponding quarter. This was attributable to a minor
decline in export sales for the quarter, as well as deferred orders for new product lines
to the second and third quarters of 2015.
Consequently, 1Q15 group profit before tax declined to RM8.1 million from RM8.9 million
year-on-year; while net profit stood at RM6.2 million from RM6.6 million previously. The
lower profitability was mainly due to the softer topline, product mix, and higher
depreciation and labour costs.
Compared to the preceding quarter ended 31 December 2014 (4Q14), Daibochi noted
2.5% growth in 1Q15 revenue, from RM84.0 million in 4Q14. Profit before tax increased
14.3% from RM7.1 million quarter-on-quarter, while net profit rose 4.9% from RM5.9
million earlier. The better topline and profitability was due to more domestic sales and
softer raw material prices during the quarter.
Daibochi declared a 1st interim single tier dividend of 3.5 sen in respect of the financial
year ending 31 December 2015 (FY2015), translating into a payout of about RM4.0
million or 64.4% of 1Q15 net profit. The dividend is payable on 19 June 2015 with an exdate of 26 May 2015.
