THE SHIDLER GROUP
Supporting Our Community
and Our Families
It’s amazing how quickly we are well into the New Year and the Year of the Sheep.
As last year was the Horse’s year to gallop and take off, this year will be the
year for contemplating and appreciating what has already been accomplished, to
think about bringing goodness to others, to take a deep breath, and to calmly
look at what’s ahead.
The Shidler Group enjoys bringing goodness to others by volunteering and
participating in community support organizations throughout the year. For 2015,
we have scheduled Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowling for Kid’s Sake, Polar Plunge
and Over the Edge benefitting the Special Olympics, the Annual Hawaii Foodbank
Drive, Kaka’ako Community Clean Up, March for Babies, Special Olympics
Summer Games, Youth Outreach Socks & Slippers Drive and Backpacks of Love
Drive, IHS Back to School Drive and Ronald McDonald House.
Over the years, we have received thousands of donations from our generous Davies
Pacific Center tenants, supporting our many building charitable events. Donations
received continue to be overwhelming, such as canned goods, youth items, gift
cards, toys for tots, monetary gifts, school supplies, and as always, valuable time.
We want to thank you all so very much for your support to enrich our community
and truly making a difference in the lives of all.
The Davies Pacific Center management office and staff are grateful for
the relationship we have with all of our tenants and we hope that you
will find our newsletter helpful in providing additional information
and updates on activities at the Davies Pacific Center.
We welcome and value your comments, so please feel free to
email me at [email protected] or stop by the management
office located on the ground floor in Suite 117.

Placing great people in great jobs.
If you’ve ever been out job-hunting,
you know how challenging it can be
to find a company that meets your
needs. Or, maybe you’re the one
doing the hiring. Finding the perfect
candidate may seem like searching
for a needle in a haystack! Enter
Bishop & Company. Locally owned
and operated, Bishop & Company
has been providing employment
assistance to both job seekers and
companies since 1986. Here’s a short
Q&A with fellow tenant and Bishop &
Company owner, Judy Bishop.
What made you choose Davies
Pacific Center? We looked at a lot
of different locations and ended
up choosing Davies Pacific Center,
as many of our clients are within
walking distance. Plus, the office
configuration was perfect for us,
and the view of the waterfront is
breathtaking. We’ve been here for
nine years now, and couldn’t imagine
being anywhere else.
What’s the current job market like
in Hawaii? The economy is good;
02 | BISHOP & CO.
there’s a lot of growth in a number
of different industries. The challenge
is finding good talent. Much of that
has to do with Hawaii’s high cost of
living, combined with low salaries and
everyone hiring at the same time. It’s a
candidate market right now.
one doing the hiring, we can help you
there as well. We provide executive
search, direct hire placement, and
temporary/contract staff. Call or
stop by our office and let us know
how we can help.
What makes Bishop & Company
unique? We know the Oahu job market
extremely well. We know where the
jobs are, and where employers can
find qualified employees. We specialize
in “white collar” industries; banking,
healthcare, hospitality, government,
insurance, and non-profits. And, we’ve
placed hundreds of employees in
positions, ranging from entry-level to
executive management.
What would you like other tenants
to know about Bishop & Company?
We’re always looking for good talent.
Even if you’re just curious about
what might be out there, stop by our
office or visit our website. We don’t
charge any fees to candidates we
place, and your information is kept
totally confidential. Or, if you’re the

Specializing in Coffee Lovers.
Earlier this year, we welcomed Aroma
Caffe to Davies Pacific Center. This
oasis, located on the ground floor
lobby next to the escalator, is a
coffee-lovers dream come true!
Using only premium beans roasted
in the traditional Italian method,
the coffee here is exquisite. Aroma
Caffe also offers a wide selection of
specialty teas, Italian sodas, decadent
pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and
rustic paninis made with authentic
Italian ingredients, like truffle-infused
honey….where else in Hawaii can you
get such a gourmet taste of Italy?!
Here’s a short Q&A with fellow
tenant and Aroma Caffe owner,
Jonathan Rotmensch.
You could’ve opened your café
anywhere in Hawaii, why Davies
Pacific Center? We wanted to bring
world-class, Italian-roast coffee to
the downtown business district. The
clientele here appreciate top quality
coffee that isn’t overpowered by
sweeteners or artificial flavors. The
feedback and reaction we’ve received
from customers has been outstanding.
03 | AROMA CAFFE
We’ve heard great things about your
coffee, what makes it so different?
It starts with premium coffee beans.
We get ours from the same distributor
that provides world-class coffee
beans to Hawaii’s high-end hotels
and restaurants. We then roast
the beans in the traditional Italian
method, reducing the acidity and
bitterness, letting the true taste of
the coffee shine through.
It sounds like you’ve got a large
following of customers? We’ve done
well in our first location at Ala Moana
Center, and our second location in
the Ilikai Hotel is also doing well.
Moving to downtown Honolulu was
the next logical step. We’ve also
got a huge social media following;
our Facebook page has over 10,000
“likes,” and we’ve got a five-star
rating on Yelp. A big part of that is due
to our employees. They are the best
in the business at understanding our
coffee and preparing it just the way
our customers like it.
What would you like other tenants
to know about Aroma Caffe? We
provide catering for office meetings.
Everything from gourmet sandwiches,
pastries, coffee… just stop by the day
before and let our staff know how we
can help. We’d also like to offer all
Davies Pacific tenants a free biscotti
when they purchase any medium
espresso. See the attached coupon.

Born and raised in Wahiawa, Hi.
Years at Davies: 3 months
Experience: Started working with Pacific
Resource Refinery, where we built the first
co-gen unit in Hawaii. This eventually led to
a job with ASEA Brown Bovari in California
and then with Applied Energy Systems in
Barbers Point, Hawaii. I also owned a poke
shop in Mililani for several long years and
continued to provide engineering services
for a Waikiki hotel and golf course.

want to get frustrated trying to attempt to hit
the little white golf ball. My hobby, I enjoy doing

The Value of
Staying Connected
Recognizing the growing desire and requirements for faster and
better Internet, The Shidler Group in partnership with Hawaii Dialoigx
Telecom (HDT) is excited to introduce HiPERFIBER by HDT. We
are offering a COMPLIMENTARY, dedicated 10mbps symmetrical
Internet circuit to each of our tenants. A similar Internet service
purchased through another provider could cost your business up
to $300 a month.
As you may have noticed over the last several weeks, we have been
upgrading our building communications infrastructure with fiber
optic cabling to each individual tenant suite. This infrastructure
upgrade will allow HDT to provide additional bandwidth up to 100
times faster (1Gbps) than the complimentary service over the same
fiber optic cable. We believe this is the first affordable and readily
available 1Gbps Internet service in Hawaii. The additional bandwidth
can be purchased at a significant discount to market pricing and
can be packaged with other products such as telephone and
cloud-based services.
Why are we doing this? We at The Shidler Group understand the
value of staying connected and speed is a necessity. In the future, we
believe that providing Internet service as part of the standard office
lease will become as commonplace as air conditioning and janitorial
services and we are proud to be the first to offer this innovative
service to our tenants.
HDT is a locally owned Internet Service Provider that is committed
to providing next generation services to both commercial customers
and high-rise residential buildings throughout Hawaii.
We hope that you will enjoy your complimentary HiPERFIBER Internet
service. To sign up, please visit hiperfiber.net or contact HDT directly
at 808-439-0000 or [email protected].
