This was a very exciting couple of weeks. As you
can see the President was in town and my
colleagues and I had ringside seats at the event.
He outlined his plans to help students offset the
huge costs of college and to inspire our younger
generation to pursue their dreams without fear of
being able to afford the cost.

In Rememberance Of
Bloody Sunday
March 7, was the 50th
anniversary of
"Bloody Sunday," a voting
rights march and its savage
reprisals in Selma, Alabama,
which played a pivotal role in
the long and painful struggle
for civil rights and equal
opportunities for all
Americans.
Hundreds of heroes stood
together 50 years ago, willing
to sacrifice to make our
democracy stronger and truly
representative. This
anniversary continues to
stand as a lasting reminder
that when we the people lock
arms, stand up for what is
right, and make our voices
heard, we can move our
nation and the quality of our
the residents of South Fulton County, an opportunity
to vote yes or no to create the City of South Fulton.
Many people have been involved over the past two
years, working very hard for this opportunity. The Bill
is now in the Senate and we are hoping that they will
see fit to allow it to continue through the process. We
are getting challenges from the City of Atlanta as they
are trying to annex the unincorporated area's into
Atlanta. This is contrary to the desire of people that
want an opportunity to create the New City. The City
has recruited Rep. Pat Gardner to introduce these
local bills to deny these residents their chance to
vote. In addition they have expanded the area to
include several schools in South Fulton, including A.
Philip Randolph, Sandtown Middle School and
Westlake High School. According to the Fulton
County School Board, if your area in annexed into
Atlanta your children will no longer be able to attend
those schools.
I urge you to get involved and let it be known what
your desire is as it relates to this subject. Don't let
others decide your future. If you have questions

HOUSE AND SENATE BILLS

HB 20 State income tax; certain allocations to
owners of certain entities shall be governed by
Georgia
law; clarify:
This legislation clarifies the Low Income Housing
tax credit in 48-7-29.6 to ensure
that a member of an entity that receive such
credits may utilize the allocated credits and that
an I.R.S.
democracy forward.

HB 131 (P. Dickerson/D) The End to
Cyberbullying Act
The End to Cyberbullying Act expands the scope
of
anti-bullying legislation by including any bullying
that
occurs over the internet, whether or not the
electronic
act originated on school property or with school
equipment, and includes electronic acts
completed via
cell phones and social media websites. The
current
anti-bullying law only bans bullying that occurs on
school property.
SB 133 (B. Miller/R) Opportunity School District; establishment; provide for definitions;
supervision of public elementary and secondary
schools that are failing
SB 133 is a constitutional amendment to allow
the state
to take over failing schools. The schools affected
would
have to be defined as "persistently failing
schools"
which means that they would have to score
below 60
three years in a row on the College and Career
Performance Index.
HB 500 (R. Mabra/D) Employment security;
services performed by individual for wages
shall be deemed to be employment unless
Department of Labor makes a contrary
determination based on evidence submitted
HB 500 redefines what it means to be an
"independent
contractor" and ensures that the Department of
Labor
has clear guidelines with regard to the distinction
between wage employees and independent

The GHDC encouraged constituents to
visit www.IRS.gov/freefile to take advantage of free tax
services available through the Free File program. Every
taxpayer with a 2014 Adjusted Gross Income of $60,000 or
less may visitwww.IRS.gov/freefile to prepare, complete
and e-file their federal tax returns at no cost. Free File also
provides basic online e-filing services, called Free File
Fillable Forms, to all taxpayers regardless of income.
For the 2015 tax season, Free File has been updated to
help Americans navigate tax changes related to the
Affordable Care Act with forms 8962 and 8965 available to
all taxpayers. Free File is made possible through a
partnership between the IRS and the Free File Alliance, a
coalition of industry-leading tax software companies.
Free File offers comprehensive tax software to 70 percent
of taxpayers, and makes basic e-filing services available to
all, regardless of income. It's all online, it's all free, and it's
only atwww.IRS.gov/FreeFile.
Tim Hugo, executive director of the Free File Alliance,
commented, "Free File has saved taxpayers more than $1
billion since its inception in 2003. We are proud to once
again offer innovative tax software at no cost to 70 percent
of taxpayers, while making it possible for everyone to e-file
for free." Free File is available only atwww.irs.gov/freefile,
which provides access to a range of free tax software
offerings from Free File Alliance member companies.
Users with a 2014 AGI of $60,000 or less may either
choose the software offering that fits their needs or utilize
the "Help Me Find Free File Software" tool. After selecting
a company, users will be transferred to the company's
website to prepare, complete and electronically file their
federal income tax returns. Free File Fillable Forms, a
basic federal e-filing service with no income limitations,

To help ensure a pleasant and productive environment for
all Career Fair participants, the following guidelines have
been established:
1. Professional attire is required at the Statewide Career
Fair (no jeans, shorts, t-shirts, sneakers or flip flops, etc.)
2. Photo ID and on-site registration are required for entry
into the event. Upon registration, all participants will
receive an event name badge, which must be worn at all
times. If a name badge is lost or damaged, you must return
to the registration table to secure a replacement.
3. Only those seeking employment or career-related
information will be allowed into the event. Other visitors
must remain outside the event.
4. Faculty and staff members of participating institutions
who wish to enter the event must register to receive their
event name badges.
5. Please respect the time of all Career Fair participants
(employers, job seekers and staff).
6. For safety reasons, the doorways to the event (inside

Joy Littlefield
I am a Paralegal that works at the Supreme Court of
Georgia as an Administrative Clerk. In October, I will have
been there for two years. I am a 10 year post-veteran of
the beauty and hair industry. I wanted to challenge myself
and do more with which is how I wound up perusing the
legal field. I love what I do. It is not only stimulating, but I
still get to meet large amounts of great people in the legal
field and governmental positions.
Passions of mine, broadly, are mostly helping those who
have not (in whatever capacity that may be). Volunteer
groups through churches helping families get medical
attention and clothing, planting trees to help rebuild forests
or even giving free haircuts through salons for charities to
raise awareness for certain causes are some of the
outreaches I have participated in. Most recently, I
participated in the building of a house with Habitat for
Humanity. I hope to do more volunteering soon and
encourage others to do so also.
