Summer Forum/Brass Community Tour Event
The Summer Forum/Brass Community Tour Event will be held on Wednesday 15 July 2015 from 4.00
pm onwards at Trimdon Community College Association – further details to follow.
Public Representative Vacancy
There is currently one public representative vacancy on the East Durham Rural Corridor AAP Board.

Chairman’s Medal
The East Durham Rural Corridor AAP received six nominations for the Chairman’s Medal 2015. The

as the nominee for the East Durham Rural Corridor Area Action
Partnership.

Older People
The crime and community safety priority is running alongside two of the above – Activities for
Children and Young People and Older People.
Please let us know if you’d like to be involved or if you're interested in a particular topic your AAP is
working on, you can also get involved in a task group.
Exercise Class
Attached is a poster with details of an exercise class being held in Trimdon Grange Community
Centre every Monday from 11.00 am – 12.00 noon.
Cathedral Service
A Thanksgiving Service for Services (Emergency, Voluntary and Military) is being held in Durham
Cathedral on Sunday 17 May at 2.00 pm (please see poster attached).
The service is open to all and is to unite and thank all those who support our communities in County
Durham.
Community Safety Fund
The fund is now open and accepting applications of between £500 to £20,000. Applications will be
accepted until 20 May 2015.

Commercial Waste Collection Service
Attached is a poster advertising Durham County Council’s commercial waste collection service.
Type 3 Membership
There is a vacancy for a type 3 member onto the Patient, Public and Carer Engagement Committee.
Please note the closing date for receipt of application is 9.00 am on Friday 29 May and interviews
are the week of 1 June. All details on how to apply and relevant forms and information are enclosed

Colour Your Life Free Community Courses to Improve Health and
Wellbeing
Please find attached information on some free creative and informal learning courses for people
living in County Durham. The courses aim to provide enjoyable activities for the improvement of
mental health and the development of emotional resilience.
2015 Vacancies for Veterans Advisory & Pensions Committee
Members for the North East
VAPC chairmen and members are public appointments approved by the Minister for Defence
Personnel, Welfare and Veterans. The posts are voluntary but travelling expenses and loss of
earnings are payable. For those interested in applying for the roles this is a rewarding opportunity
to play a central role in promoting the interests and welfare of Veterans and their families within
their own community (please see advertisements attached for further information).

Family Fun Day on Monday 25 May 2015 from 11.00 am – 3.00 pm at Trimdon Junior School (poster

Durham Police Poster Competition
Durham Police have teamed up with Kristian’s Journey to create One Punch North East. Kristian’s
Journey was set up by Maxine Thompson whose son Kristian died 10 months after being punched
once, he was only 19. The purpose of the One Punch North East poster competition is to raise
awareness about the risks and consequences associated with social violence, in particular the
devastating effect that one punch can have.
The competition is open to all ages and abilities, however due to the nature of the topic it would be
preferred for participants to be aged over 14. Entries can be digital or hand drawn, please see
attached posters for further information.
Fantastic prizes include a pair of tickets to the England v New Zealand Cricket One Day International
on Saturday 20 June at the Chester-le Street Emirates Stadium, a signed Sunderland football top and
day passes to Beamish Museum. Entries should be submitted by 29 May 2015 to: Police HQ,

prizes.

Sedgefield Mediaeval Fayre - 16 May
The 45th Sedgefield Mediaeval Fayre will be held on Saturday 16 May 2015. Escafeld Mediaeval
Knights will do combat and there will be a host of family entertainment on the village green as well
as entertainment and static displays in Ceddesfeld Hall grounds.
The event will start at 10.00 am with a parade of children’s tableaus led by the Flower Queen and
her attendants in a delightful horse drawn carriage. This family event has a full programme of
entertainment including - prizes for the best fancy dress, dancing by Durham Rams Morris, and
Sedgefield County Junior School., side shows and stalls as well as demonstrations and entertainment
in the arena. There will be stiff competition this year in the Tug of War as the junior teams really get
the crowds roaring. A fun fair with the usual rides and infuriating games to test your skill and
patience and a wide variety of stalls selling crafts, food and bric-a-brac add to the atmosphere.
Ceddesfeld Hall and park will host Punch and Judy shows, various displays including ACLE Living
History and Birds of Prey together with various children’s entertainment. Morning coffees, delicious
homemade lunches and an all day bar provided by CAMRA Club past 'Best Regional Winner’, all at
very competitive prices, are available in the Hall.
Proceeds from the Fayre will go towards the upkeep of Ceddesfeld Hall a Grade II listed former
Rectory and home of the Community Association.
