The mechanical side of the business was established in 1964 when a vision became a
reality. We offer 50 years of experience in Sheet Metal and Fabrication, and grow alongside
technology as it changes. After careful market research, we realised that we needed to
extend our offering of electrical engineering to our valued clients; hence the birth of Edge
Line Engineering (Pty) Ltd.
Edge Line Engineering is a proudly South African, level 2 BEE company that was actualized
from various companies specialising in the electrical and mechanical engineering field. Our
team has over sixty years of collective experience in energy management and the related
fields.
Our sales and technical staff offer intense product knowledge and superb after sales service.
At Edge Line Engineering we strive to provide our clients with excellent service by using well

MANUFACTURING

have a fully operational factory in Gauteng, and our
manufacturing department utilizes the latest CAD design and
guarantees accuracy on production.

Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)
Edge Line Engineering offers fully integrated uninterrupted power supplies (UPS), providing
our clients a stable energy system during power interruptions 1 – 500kVA.

ENERGY SOLUTIONS
Our team has been specializing in Power Factor System integration for several years. The
company has since directed its attention to specializing in Energy Management Planning,
comprising of: User Site Consumption and Load Analysis, Integration, and Savings related to
user defined Power Factor Correction Systems.
Power Factor: When a load is corrected to a line, the load absorbs a current that depends
on its electrical characteristics. The product of the current by the applied voltage is the
Apparent Power. The Apparent Power is composed by the active power the load can supply
and the Reactive Power, which is needed to generate the magnetic field necessary for the
operation of certain types of loads. The relation between the active power and the apparent
power is defined as Power Factor.
Reasons to correct your Power Factor:
Your municipality bill will be decreased.
Municipalities penalize the user for a low or bad
power factor, as it requires an increase in the
municipal generation and transmission capacity
to handle the reactive power component, caused
by inductive loads. Councils or municipalities
usually charge a penalty fee to customers with Power Factors less than 0.96. You can avoid
this fee by installing Power Factor Correction Equipment.

restricted access, and a mechanical locking solution as well.
Mechatronic Smart Lock
The smart lock system integrates RFID technology with innovative locking mechanisms
managed by software installed on your pc. User access can be restricted within the
software. When the key is used to open the lock, the lock will transmit events to the key
whether the operation was successful or not, creating an audit trail that can be viewed
within the software. Smart lock electronic cylinders are easily retro-fitted to replace
mechanical lock cylinders in existing doors, cabinets, drawers and padlocks.
