Construction temporarily halted because of exceeded permit for 3151 Wylie

Question
1. Would the bond referendum funds be used towards Falcon stadium?
Response: No, the city has hired someone, not a city employee, to
oversee the spending of the bond funds to ensure the funds are spent
appropriately.
2. What is being done about the property @ Ericsson & Wylie being
open/unsecured?
Response: City has issued a notice; owners have 30 days to comply


Overall crime has been relatively good; spike in burglaries centered around Edgewood
Courts area; arrests have been made in those crimes.
o
Some recent spike in robberies, and double homicide (LF5 Pts) area, such as:
-
Kroger homicide is under investigation. The victim was killed with his “own gun” that
was in the vehicle being stolen; victim confronted the perpetrators in the process of
stealing his vehicle.

LF5 Pts double homicides considered “random” acts of crime
-
No cameras working at any of the LF5 Pts businesses

Armed robbery occurred at North Highland within the same timeframe; could be
connected.

Lt. Floyd stressed the importance of being aware of your surroundings at ALL times.
1. He stated unusual crime pattern at this time; the officers are concerned
about the nature of the recent crimes.

Question
1. What is being done about the high number of burglaries on Scruggs?
Response: Several suspects at Edgewood Courts were arrested; still
trying to identify others; Some if not all of the suspects were not from the
area.


Earth Day Cleanup – Wednesday, April 22

Question
1. Valencia asked for holding the tire roundup the following Sat., 4/25 (need
clarification on the date??) vs using Earth Day for this effort, per feedback
received from other neighborhoods.
o
Primary effort is for “tire clean-up”.

Monica Ponce, Edgewood Community Learning Garden, has partnered with a
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Noland Dickey, President/CEO, The Dickey
Group.

1 of 29 USDA family farms located in Burke Cty, GA; currently working with
daycare centers and schools in the Atlanta area; they own the Burke City
farm

Additional timeframes are being proposed (wait & see to monitor the
neighborhood demand for the CSA)

A neighbor has volunteered her porch for “after hours” pickup
$20/wkly fee for seasonal fresh vegetables and dry “organic” items

May 17th 1:00pm to 4:00pm - Spring Sprout Festival, Edgewood Community Garden
- Seeking “donations” from individuals/businesses
Zoning
- Jason Braga, Icon Residential, Reynoldstown townhome community (Moreland &
Hardee) for development.
- 1 acre; 23 unit fee simple “modern/contemporary style” townhomes
- Purchase property by end of summer; break ground early Fall; 12-14 months for
build out
- Current property zoning is for 55 dwelling units, and the city has conditions on the
property; rezone request is for 23 units (bringing down the density)
- Visitor parking will be along Hardee; current Beltline overlay doesn’t allow for
additional parking; each unit will have parking for 2 cars.
 RRC offices; next Monday, March 23rd, to meet and answer questions from
the neighbors
 Motion to support Reynoldstown pending approval of the Reynoldstown
neighborhood organization and NPU-N
 Motion passed 17-0-0
