Aldo Zana
Between 1965 and the Nineties, the 1000 Km of Monza-Filippo Caracciolo
Trophy, was one of the most classical endurance races - a sort of 24 hours of Le
Mans - and for many seasons was, rightfully, a round in the world championships for sports cars and prototypes. Top drivers and cars challenged each
other on that historic Italian track and banking, the car makers including
Porsche, Ferrari and Ford, bringing to life many unforgettable pages in the history of motor sport. Aldo Zana, prominent motor racing historian, tells this fabulous story, year after year, included the competitions held between 1995 and
2008. Every edition is enriched with starting grids and final placings. A huge
work, never attempted since now, illustrated with outstanding pictures, many
of them never before published.

Mauro Forghieri, Daniele Buzzonetti
«The dream is still possible: this is the message I would like transmit to the young, even the really young, because it
is from that age that one begins to design cars. Having had the good fortune to realise my dream, I tell my story as a
designer at Pinin Farina, Ferrari, Fiat and Fioravanti with the duty of a witness. You must want to be a designer very
much, think and aim always at that and only that, without pretense or deviation through much suffering, which
would not be so painful, however, because the conceptual satisfaction, above all, would be so intense and intimate
and contemporaneous and global that they would compensate for the hardness of life».

Many of the Ferrari single seaters and sports racers that won world championships were born of the imagination of Mauro Forghieri and designed by him.
That was the case with the John Surtees 1964 158 F1 and the unbeatable Ts of
the Lauda-Regazzoni era. The same can be said of the 250 P, the 330 P3 and P4,
as well, naturally, as the 312 ‘PB’, the unquestioned protagonists among the
sports racing cars of the 1960s and 1970s. The life of the outstanding Mauro
Forghieri is told in this book, in which noted stories, especially those that have
remained unpublished for years, intertwine in an riveting narrative, supported
by a wealth of absolutely unpublished illustrations, a large
portion of which come from the publisher’s archives.
NEW
For the first time, one of the major names in Italian car design tells his story from
the beginning; from when he made his first sketches on paper, unbeknown to his
parents and not only of cars, to reaching a point at which his name became synonymous with some of the best known and most important cars on the international front. Images of an epoch, designs from his own personal archive never
previously seen and, above all, a passionate first person account. Those are the
key elements of this outstanding book which, through the creations of Leonardo
Fioravanti, covers over 40 years of the history of automobile style and culture.
About the author
Leonardo Fioravanti was born in Milan in 1938 and graduated from the Milan
Polytechnic in mechanical engineering in 1963. He worked with Pininfarina for
23 years, where he personally designed some of the most famous Ferraris, until
he became the managing director and director general of Pininfarina Studi & Ricerche SpA. From 1988 to 1991 he worked for the Fiat Group,
first as deputy director general of Ferrari and managing director of Ferrari Engineering, later becoming responsible for advanced design and CRF; after that he became director responsible for the
Fiat Car Styling Centre. In 1987, he founded Fioravanti srl as a studio of architecture and in
1991 he broadened the company’s industrial services activity, especially the design of means of
transport. He collaborated with the world’s most prominent car manufacturers and has registered over 30 international patents, not only in the automotive field.

The story of Alfa Romeo, the prestigious Italian marque which has created some of the most memorable
cars of all time during its 100 year-plus history, is told by
specification after specification in a ‘virtual gallery’ of
many of the models produced by the company, both
road-goers and racers. The 1750 GS of the 1930s, the 8C
2900 B, the Giulietta, the Giulia, the 33s, the Alfettas
right up to the most modern 8C Competizione are just some of the cars that find a place in this
long catalogue in which the illustrations of Michele Leonello, the authoritative car designer,
come together with the words of Lorenzo Ardizio, the expert on the history of Alfa Romeo.

This edition has been updated to spring 2015. It includes over 200 designs by the prestigious
artist and illustrator Giorgio Alisi, and covers the history of the Prancing Horse model-by-model,
from the origins to today, with current production cars. In this ’virtual gallery’ the entire production of Ferrari appears in chronological order, sub-divided into grand tourers, sports racers and
Formula 1 single-seaters. Each design is supported by a technical specification and
text that illustrates the main technical and sporting characteristics. This new update of the book includes a list of
Maranello’s cars, enriched by the 458 Italia Speciale and
LaFerrari; they made their debut in 2013 to be joined by the
California T (2014), the car that brought back the turbocharger, just like the F14 T with which Fernando Alonso
and Kimi Raikkonen are competing for the Formula 1 World
Championship.

A project of high level meant to commemorate 100
years of Maserati, this work covers the history of the
marque in all its aspects and is divided into three large
sections. The first chapter signed by Luca Dal Monte,
deals with the company history and the marque’s
industrial matters: from the early years, when production was concentrated on racing cars, to the advent of
the first GT of the immediate post-war period through
to the great classics of the Fifties, Sixties and
Seventies. The ‘Road cars and design’ section by Lorenzo Ramaciotti, is specifically devoted to the Trident’s road cars: from the A6 1500 to current production, including the extraordinary expressions of design offered by
models like the 3500 and 5000 GT, the various Quattroportes, the
Mistral, Ghibli, Indy to then approach the present day, touching on
the 3200 GT and the current Quattroporte, Granturismo and
GranCabrio. Historic and modern pictures illustrate each of these
models in a long photographic treatise, preceded by an introductory section which focuses on the historic matters associated
with this vein of Maserati production. The last section written by
Cesare De Agostini and Gianni Cancellieri is about races: from
the outset Maserati’s history has mainly been one of racing,
from the pioneering era to the glorious Fifties, as much in
Formula 1 with the 1957 world championship won by Juan
Manuel Fangio, as endurance races, Maserati has expressed
itself with success at the top levels of the sport. But even before that,
the glorious marque had written unforgettable pages in the annals of racing, including
victories at Indianapolis in 1939 and 1940. The recent success of the MC12 is the latest chapter in this proud
history of achievement. There are also specific boxes in this section devoted to particular competitive aspects, such as the great
road speed records (1926-1952) and the company’s long experience in speedboat racing.
AN OSCAR NOMINATED BOOK
The book has received a nomination for the prestigious 2014 Motoring Book of the Year promoted by the
Royal Automobile Club - historic clubhouse founded in London in 1897 to promote the motor car and its place in
society.
The volume has been shortlisted among six finalists by a panel of independent motoring experts. Here below
some quotes from the judges:
Maserati became 100 years old in 2014. A century of history, graced by some of the greatest
technicians, racing drivers, cars and victories. So it is time to devote a ‘catalogue’ to the celebrated House of the Trident that brings together almost all its production, from the Tipo 26 –
the Grand Prix racer with which the Maserati brothers first became constructors back in 1926
– to current production cars like the GranTurismo, Quattroporte, Ghibli and the brand new
Kubang. Between the two came road and racing cars that were true icons of automobile history. The first group includes, among others, the A6 1500, 3500 and 5000 GT, the Ghibli, Indy
and Merak; the second the astounding 8CTF, the A6GCSs, the 250 F, the ‘Birdcage’ and the
more recent MC12. The book includes 150 full colour designs by illustrator Michele Leonello.
‘Official history but Italian publisher did the great marque proud with this stylish, informative review covering cars and key personalities’.
Mick Walsh, Classic & Sports Car Magazine
‘The famous Italian brand is celebrated here in fine form as the bumper-sized book looks at the life of the firm, from its early days in Bologna
to the supercar manufacturer it is today. Pictures are breathtaking and accompanying text is insightful’. Henry Willis, Auto Express
‘With heavyweight writers Cancellieri, Dal Monte, Ramaciotti and De Agostini collating so much knowledge, passion and experience
between two covers, this may well be one of the most authoritative marque histories ever published. With a three-part history/politics-roadracing framework, its thoroughness is all-pervading’. Henry Hope-Frost, Autosport Magazine

Among the great names of the world’s
body stylists, a place at the absolute top
must go to Zagato, a name closely linked
to the story of motor racing but also to that
of style. And a name that celebrated the
95th anniversary of its foundation in 2014.
It was in 1919 when Ugo Zagato founded
"Carrozzeria U. Zagato & C.", a company
that, in just a few years, earned great fame
among the numerous car manufacturers, the
first of them Alfa Romeo, who gave
the Milanese stylist the task of building the body for the unforgettable 6C 1750 and the 8C 2900, which
appeared in the Thirties. That sporting vocation was no less prominent
after the Second World War, when there appeared in sequence the Fiat
8V, the Alfa Romeo SZs and almost all the Lancia sports coupés. This
book makes live again the company’s extraordinary story of technology
and style, sub-divided into decades, its story told in short passages of
text and by an outstanding collection of beautiful archival photography.
Well worth noting are the profiles in colour of all the projects by the celebrated stylist, from the S.V.A. 5 bi-plane used by Gabriele D’Annunzio
for his flight to Vienna in 1918 to the latest concept cars.

The Hyena is a beautiful car, but one practically unknown to the
general public. A car that could have repeated and
even surpassed the commercial and sporting success of the Lancia Delta Integrale from which it
was derived. Unfortunatley just 24 examples were
produced due to the debateable decision taken by the Fiat/Lancia directors of the
time. Following a rapid review of the evolution of the Lancia Delta over the year, this
book, written by an enthusiastic collector, examines the difficult genesis of the Hyena,
from the first steps with the
publication of the very first (previously unpublished) sketches
and numerous photos and then
follows its development, engineering and production through to its presentation at the car
shows and in brochures.
All 24 Lancia Hyenas are examined, with the intention of reconstructing their specifications,
their destination and the country in which they are jealously conserved by the enthusiast and
collectors who possess a precious example.

The first title in a series born of collaboration
between Giorgio Nada Editore and the Imola
Autodrome, which will see a
series of books
appear over time,
devoted to the
Italian track. This
bi-lingual book has as the object the story of Ayrton at Imola, a circuit at which the
Brazilian competed from 1984 to 1994, winning on three occasions and starting from
pole eight times. The volume closes with a section on the three days there from 1-3
May 2014 that took place to mark the 20th anniversary of Ayrton’s death, commemorated on the Imola track.

Ayrton Senna is still
the best loved of
Formula 1 champions.
Now that 20 years have
passed since his tragic
fatal accident at Imola
on 1 May 1994, it is time
to rediscover who and
what Ayrton really
was. An emotional
yet rigorous journey
that takes place along
the two lines of visual testimony and in-depth intimacy. The stars of this book are the photographs: hundreds of shots and all of them in colour, which will ensure the reader relives
the unrepeatable career of this great champion, from his humble beginnings in karts to his
lightening experiences in lesser formulae in Britain, through to his rapid move to Formula 1.
First with Toleman, then Lotus, with whom he won his first Grand Prix. But the definitive consecration of Ayrton took place at McLaren, where he won three F1 World Championships
between 1988 and 1993 but, more than anything else, pulled off a series of ventures that are
the stuff of legends.all bound together with new revelations, anecdotes, confidences and stories of a life that was lived, the gift of those who knew
him well. To make the heart beat a little faster within those who have not forgotten and to have a vibrant and different account of the man, a new
view to bring back the brilliance of an old sentiment, able to chrystallise itself in the pictures and between the lines of this book.

Between 1954 to 1975, the Milan-based San Marco boatyard wrote some of the

Mare, Giulietta del Mare, Appia; all of them fast and prestigious wooden runabouts of elegant lines and refined details.
Like a fashion designer or a famous Italian coachbuilder, for over 20 years
1958
Oscar Scarpa, founder of the yard, promoted a tradition of excellence,
building with his son Sandro around 600 exclusive boats, each with unique
specifications, either technical or aesthetic and beautifully finished. The
San Marco boatyard has also enjoyed a successful racing career, with more
than 30 world speed records and hundreds of victories to its credit at the
highest competitive level, often with Oscar Scarpa in the driver’s seat.
The book is a tribute to the San Marco boatyard’s unique contribution to the
world of speed boats and cars and reviews its full history. The work is illustrated with a remarkable collection of hundreds of unpublished archival documents and photographs as well as detailed information, such as its extensive
production and racing records.
Six victories, two pole positions,
eight fastest laps and 13 podium
places. Statistics that are anything
but striking. In Formula 1 today, there
are drivers who have won a great
deal more, at least according to bare
numbers. But Gilles Villeneuve can’t
be evaluated like that, because there
is no way of measuring excitement.
Even though he has been dead for
over 30 years, the legend of the little
Canadian, who was killed on 8 May
1982, is still imbued with such emotion. Gilles the “Aviator” as Enzo Ferrari nick-named him, the only
driver of the period for whom the expression “Villeneuve Fever” was coined.
His “crazy flight” at Fuji in 1977, his first GP win at home in Canada in 1978, the unforgettable 1979 season followed by a year of purgatory, his epic success at Monaco in 1981 and the in-house duel with
Didier Pironi at Imola in 1982 and that last “crazy flight” at Zolder.
Snapshots of a story that smacks of legend, one that is relived again today in this book, packed with previously unpublished pictures and written
by authoritative expert Leonardo Acerbi, author of “Ferrari. All the cars” and “Mille Miglia Story”.

ON THE OCCASION OF THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF MOMO
WITH A FOREWORD BY JOHN SURTEES
Man, racing driver, entrepreneur. Three terms that well describe Gianpiero
Moretti, creator of Momo half a century ago, a company of Italian excellence in
the production of steering wheels, racing suits and car components from 1964
to today. The historic marque decided to celebrate this important anniversary
with a book that covers the salient stages of its development
and consolidation, as well as Moretti’s
long and prestigious motor racing career. The
company’s association with Ferrari
dates back to the
‘60s, when the Prancing Horse adopted Momo steering wheels for Formula 1; the prolific IMSA experience, first with the Porsche 935 and then the Ferrari 333 SP, to its current involvement in the official Momo team. Then there was the far-reaching production
of steering wheels and rims for production cars and the lively, colourful advertising campaigns that branded half a century of communications. Those are just some of the chapters that comprise this book, born of close collaboration with the company.
