What is the policy on switching between distances ( AQUA/EPIC/IRON)?
Subaru EPIC Dartmouth is a unique event in the world. We allow competitors to switch between race
distances up to and including during the event itself in response to the realities of the day.
We are all professionals, but few of us are professional athletes. The vast majority of us have to go back
to work the several days after our race, and we ultimately do this sport for ‘fun’. Forcing a run when
potentially injured or physically compromised, and risking lasting injury to do so, makes no sense for
those that have to go back to their families and full-time careers on Monday.
Subaru EPIC Dartmouth allows you to still be a full finisher at any distance you choose – even to
compete for a victory at a shorter distance if that is what the day provides you.
Which Age Group will I compete in on race day?
Age Group placement on Race Day will determined by your age as of Dec 31st, 2015

When are race packets mailed out?
Race packets are not mailed out. Race registration and insurance waivers must be completed in person
at onsite registration (preferably) on Friday afternoon prior to our Athletes Welcome Dinner on Friday
night. Saturday morning registrations can be accommodated, but we encourage if you are doing an
Iron-distance event on the Sunday, come in on Friday (or earlier) and put your feet up to rest after the
stress of travel for the best experience – plus we have a great Friday Athletes dinner and would love if
you could all join us!
I can’t make it to the check in before the race, what should I do?
The onsite race registration must be completed in person, preferably on Friday to make the process
easiest for our volunteers. If your flight arrives too late on Friday, we can also accommodate Saturday
morning registration. You must register in person to sign the waivers, and if you cannot register in
person, you will not be able to start the race on Sunday morning. We do want you to be able to race, so
if the timing of your arrival is a concern, please contact the event director: [email protected]
Do I have to be a member of USAT or Triathlon Canada for this event?
Race Day insurance is provided under the umbrella of Triathlon Nova Scotia. You must have either an
annual or a single-day TNS membership (available at registration for $20). Under the intra-provincial
license exchange program, if you are a member of Triathlon PEI, or Triathlon Newfoundland, your
TriPEI/TrNL licenses will be honored in Nova Scotia. If you are visiting from another Canadian Province,
please ask your Triathlon PSO to contact Triathlon Nova Scotia to set up license exchangeability.
Are there ITU Worlds Championship Qualifying Spots avail able?
Yes. Each Age Group Champion in our EPIC Distance event on June 28th, 2015 will be entitled to claim
their spot on Team Canada for the 2016 World Long Course Triathlon Championships at the Redman
Triathlon in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA (5 yr age groups, based on competitors age as of December
31, 2016).
You must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Landed Immigrant, and a member in good
standing of your Provincial Triathlon Association prior to EPIC Dartmouth on June 28th (if not, you can
buy an annual Triathlon Nova Scotia membership at race kit pick-up).

product on course, we have designed our course so that athletes can have access to their
special needs bag as many as 8 times on the Run portion of the event - providing them access
to their own personalized nutrition, as in Pro events!
